Top the left is Sawley Grange Farm and to the right of the road is Church Wilne Reservoir. Neither of which are visible. A Roman road used to run to the right of the image but its path is submerged by the reservoir.

Danger Deep water
The works appear to be related to the Derwent Aqueduct which feeds into Church Wilne Reservoir. The water has presumably filled the hole as a result of inactivity over the Christmas and New Year holiday period.
