It's published as a protest against the planned Channel Tunnel of which the development was actually abandoned due to fears for British military safety.
In the book the French simply invaded England through the tunnel, occupy London until they are defeated by General Sir Daniel Lysons to which the anonymous author seems to be sympathetic stating that Lyson was shelved due to petty jealousies at the top levels. ...more

John Bull in America is a travel account mocking both British pompousness and their looking down at America. John Bull depicts the United States as completely lawless, careless and lazy. Who gets to be a judge gets decided by who is the best at pig stealing, the Americans are careless with their property because when it gets stolen they just steal it from someone else and in universities the only books by Thomas Paine are allowed. Nobody really works except for the slaves. Sometimes it goes overtly over the top with people dancing until their legs are stumps and the hair of slaves catching on fire. ...more

Most of the topics are about the Agadir Crisis and the Alsatian question with always the Pan-Germanists looming as a threat to peace. But most of it is about the change in ideology he experienced mainly due to the falling apart of the Zimmerwald principles. He became critical of the factory worker centered marxism, saw the socialist movement split into 2 parts the social-democracy and the Russian communists.
He also writes how it was to fight against the Germans while admiring the Germans as people. ...more

An interesting phenomen in American politics, which produced some of the larger names in American politics.
The Anti-Masonic Party like the Prohibition Party had much support from diverse christian sects, unlike in other countries with homogenous christian denominations and proportional representation where there are/were specific parties for their believes. Looks like christians are so diverse in America that they only can agree one single-issue politics.
The tone is not sensationalist alarmist as you would expect from current political scientists about non-traditional parties. ...more

This book doesn't treat its subjects in a "point-and-laugh"-manner and doesn't go deep in their theories. It does give a glance in conspiracy theory culture from all kind of spectrums. Their inner culture seems to be pretty much the same and you could say for all fringe cultures. It shows how intelligent people can be captured by fringe theories and shows their confirmation bias. Another reason the book gets bad reviews is that people didn't like that also conspiracism from their ideologic spectrum was critcised.
People who expect a book mocking conspiracy theories or expect only conspiracy theorist from the "other" spectrum is attack, should better not read at all and watch some Louis Theroux.

It has been written by ( Brother ) Peter Dimond, one of the two prominent members of the Most Holy Family Monastry , the other is his brother Michael, who also uses the title Brother. TheMost Holy Family Monastry is a sedevacatist organisation. That means they don't accept the papal authority of the last three popes. Unlike other sedevactist organisations. They don't have an anti-pope and use the title Brother. I consider it be an coincidence that the only prominent members are two brothers and call themselves Brother.
The booklet claims that the ufo phenonem are basically secret government experiments and natural phenonem.
Their view on aliens actually makes sense from a christian stand point. Other then using the more secular skeptic argument, that considering the biodiversity on the earth the odds are very slim that actual beings from whole other planets with whole other climate, would even look remotely like human beings ( and not like any other animal of some sort )
Brother Dimond claims that the aliens mostly the greys are demons. If you consider that the aliens tend to propagate "World peace through one-world-goverment" that would be placible from a christian stand point. Secondly the author doesn't find it plausible that aliens with a high technology would bother with primitive stuff like anal probing and cattle mutilation...more
