The host gave my friend and me private rooms even though we booked a shared room because we were to get only guests in the hotel. She was very kind and thoughtful. Nostalgic stay in an well renovated post office. They still have the old hooks for coats on the wall, lovely. The host Malyar was very helpful and friendly and really made us feel at home. Loved the windmill just across the street.

The Powderhorn Chateau is situated in Ohakune, at the entrance to Tongariro National Park. Indoor pool was amazing - heated to about 38 degrees Celsius. All the walls & ceilings of hotel were wooden, such a special feel, just like we were in a ski chalet. Hotel had a bar and restaurant on site, which was great.
