Nice city with everything available centrally, ie. shops, restaurants, malls, etc..Not too close to a beach and still considered a small town in comparison to other neighbouring towns/cities in NZ.

The bush and gardens next to the Manawatu River: with mature Tawa, Titoki, Kawakawa and even a small stand of Kauri, huge old Ginko trees outside the cafe.
Wide flat streets for cycling.
Greenhaugh Gardens ($10 entry) a short drive away are worth a visit.
City is hardly any different to other towns, shops and restaurants value for money.

Beautiful gardens and parks.
Beautiful gardens and parks. Not a lot of shops but that would depend on age group. Several lovely coffee shops. Easy to get around if you have a car, with beautiful countryside and small towns close by to explore.
Palmerston North is very flat and easy to navigate.

Oh my word, what an amazing motel! This place felt like more of a wonderful hotel than just a place to sleep on the road. Staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. The room was spacious and incredibly well equipped. Loads of toiletries and even chocolates on the bed. Microwave, toaster and kettle were absolutely spotless. It was super clean and felt like they took great care to clean the bits that motels normally miss. The bed was super comfortable. They even had a washer and dryer you could use. An absolute must stay place!
The family suite was clean spotless. There's small stove, pan and pot which is handy when traveling with young children. The breakfast included was marvelous, many to choose from. The staff was friendly and so helpful. Location very close to anything, pak n save just behind the hotel walking distance. Will come and stay again.
Easily accessible Location perfect for our needs. Not far from after hour restaurants. walking distance from main Palmerston North Hospital. Caring hotelier.
