This is really a paradise house - it is so peaceful and quiet in there and the views are amazing. It feels like you are alone in the world - life changing experience. The house is very stylish and well-equipped with all the necessities. You have a large territory coming together with the house, including forest, terrace, view points. The drive to the nearest beach takes about 10 minutes and to the city is around 15 minutes. The hosts are very welcoming and willing to help with any questions/requests.

Casa dos Valentes is set in Santo Espírito. This holiday home offers free private parking, a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi. It was so peaceful and the house had everything we needed. We loved hearing the rural sounds, and the place was so easy to find. We were greeted as we drove up the driveway and check in was seamless. When we opened the door, we were greeted with a loaf of homemade bread, cookies, and jam from the Cooperative Bakery up the street along with milk and a large bottle of water. We cooked breakfast every morning, and when we weren’t out exploring, we enjoyed sitting on the front patio and watching the nearby cows and sheep grazing. And, given the size of the island (and the time of year we visited), we didn’t have any problem driving to Vila do Porto for more restaurant options (it was only 20 minutes away). However, we did enjoy our late morning coffee in one of the bars in the village of Santo Espirito.

He was helpful in every single way and we can only recommend to stay at his place! The walk up is a challenge but definitely worth the view!

From the moment you arrive there is a feeling of being welcomed. For ever aspect of our stay Luís was there to assist, from restaurant reservations to trail info. Bella made us a welcome basket and homemade treats. For New Years there was champagne! Truly an amazing place in the most beautiful of settings.

Casa do Norte is a cozy traditional house surrounded by a beautiful garden with views of the sea and surrounding countryside. This was our second stay at the house, and it was just as pleasant and relaxing as the first. Laurinda is a wonderful host – friendly, responsive, and a great ambassador for this beautiful island.

Boasting private pool, Vigia da Areia is situated on the beachfront in São Lourenço. The accommodation is air conditioned and has a spa bath. Stop looking and book this house! it’s worth it! the beach it’s located on is absolutely gorgeous. The house was beautifully located, well decorated, and clean with many personal touches. The patio is wonderful for sitting outside and enjoying the sound of the waves. The host was extremely accommodating, informative, and friendly. I would highly recommend it and stay here again.

A wonderful location to stay, we liked everything! Beautiful big house, has all the facilities you need. Nice welcome present with some bread, butter, cookies, much appreciated. Very quiet and peaceful. In the middle of fantastic nature of Santa Maria island, a convinient base to stay for hiking. Also just 10 minutes walk to the village Santo Espirito which has a grocery, bakery and 2 cafes.

Fabulous home in a wonderful location, easy walking to restaurants, bars, supermarkets, and excellent off street parking. Good cross flow ventilation to mitigate the warm humid weather in August. Good cooking facilities, including a charcoal BBQ on a large furnished terrace. Very comfortable bed and living room furniture. Greatly appreciated the washing machine, and outside clothes line. We were pleasantly surprised how spectacularly beautiful Santa Maria Island was, and how warm the water was for swimming.
