I love this place--and I can't remember the last time I wrote that on a booking.com review. Brand new wooden cabins squeezed in a tight valley in the middle of the woods, next to a little stream of water. The lodges owner lives in a cabin next door, warm welcome and always willing to help. The cabin was squeaky clean, had everything I could desire and even more (a piano!). The private onsen is a few steps away from the cabin, if you want something more social there's plenty of public onsens around (one down the road has a view on the river). Quiet, fresh air, plenty of hikes a short drive away. I stayed in the middle of winter, heating and thermal insulations were on point.

照宿 Terasu yado es un alojamiento con vistas a la ciudad que está en Aira, a 23 km de Estación de tren Kagoshima y a 20 km de Senganen Garden. Wonderful spot - the dog-friendly room is a huge plus and our primary reason for staying. The entire house worked perfectly for traveling with the pup. We were worried that it would be too far from Kagoshima, but it's so close to the train that it sort of balances out. Kajiki also has a lot of great things going for it - I'd recommend this place to anybody looking for a nice, quiet retreat.

We wanted to check out Kusasenrigahama, hike the Kuju Mountains and then go to Kurokawa Onsen Town, and this was the perfect spot for the first leg of our trip because it is so convenient to the Makinoto Pass Trailhead. The room itself is spacious and peaceful, with large windows overlooking green rolling hills. Beds are so comfy, including the duvet and cover. There was a long desk along the windows, great if you need to do some work or writing. The staff is great, and the western style of the restaurant and lobby is fun.
