The current situation in Ukraine "rhymes" (as Mark Twain would put it) with the situation in Europe just before World War II. Chamberlain believed that appeasement would bring "peace for our time," and that everyone could now get a "nice, quiet sleep." Churchill had his doubts. One of them was proved to be correct.
Abstract This study is an attempt at expounding an Islamic perspective of cognitive development. It begins with a critical over view of the methodological and conceptual problems of conventional psychology. This is with a view to establishing the need and relevance of the Islamic perspective. For the purpose of expounding the Islamic perspective of cognitive development numerous verses of the Glorious Qur’an and Prophetic Traditions (Hadith), which have explicit or implicit implications to cognitive development, were collated and quoted. Their authentic and authoritative interpretations as given by various erudite and celebrated Qur’anic and Hadith exegetists and scholars were investigated and reported. Upon doing this, a number of principles, factors, and processes of human development (especially cognitive development) were derived. More significantly, through inferences, deductions and syntheses, some nine (9) stages of cognitive development were extracted from the said Qur’anic verses and hadiths. Finally, the Qur’anic view on cognitive decline due to ageing was also studied. It has been found that the Qur’an affirms that human beings do experience some forms of cognitive decline with ageing. Based on the findings mentioned above, some educational implications in the Muslim World were suggested and subsequently some recommendations were made. Keywords: Cognitive development, implication, education, Islamic perspective.

The site is located in Heves county, in the grater region of the Great Plain, in the middlemregion of the Alluvial Cone Plain of the Northern Great Plain, and within it in the microregion of the Hevesi Plain. The microregion, with an elevation between 86.4 and 157 m above sea level, is essentially an alluvial cone plain of the Laskó and Eger creeks. Leaving the northeastern part of Heves and the railway tracks on the no.31 main road, it is located approximately 1200 m in the east direction. Heves machine operator András Dulai drew our attention to the Sarmatian site and the satellite recording of the circular trench. Next to the Hevesi-ridge, in the immediate vicinity of the Hanyi-brook channel, we observed intensive scattering of Sarmatian ceramic finds on 500×230 m. The on-site inspection confirmed the presence of the Sarmatian settlement and where a circular 78 trench was visible on the satellite images, based on the GPS coordinates we found mainly prehistoric (Neolithic/Copper Age) pottery fragments, knapped stones, plaster and the burnt remains. To confirm the existence of the enclosure, geophysicist Donát Raáb conducted magnetometer surveys between April 3 and April 29, 2019. The existence of the prehistoric enclosure was clearly confirmed by the magnetometer survey. Between October 30 and November 12, 2019, the Dobó István Castle Museum, led by archaeologist Mónika Gutay, carried out a 10×10 m grid survey in the area of the enclosure, and probing and drilling within 2×5 m in the northeastern part of the enclosure. Based on the research so far, the earliest prehistoric enclosure trenches in Heves County can be dated to the Copper Age. Copper Age enclosures were identified and excavated at the Füzesabony–Pusztaszikszói gyümölcsös and Tiszanána–Dinnyéshalom sites. At the Vámosgyörk–Vízre-járó-dűlő site, another Copper Age, multiple enclosure trench system may be presumed. The ceramics, decorated with mesh patterns, found in Heves–Czigler are very similar to the ceramic fragments excavated in Tiszanána–Dinnyéshalom. The size/diameter of the Heves enclosure trench determined by geophysical survey is 50 m, slightly larger than the 30 m outer enclosure trenches excavated in Tiszanána and Füzesabony. In the northeastern part of the enclosure trench in Heves, we performed 7 boreholes in the axis of a 2×5 m section. What we know from the drilling is that the subsoil here is 50-60 cm deep and the deepest point of the enclosure is 150 cm. Based on the geophysical surveys, the enclosure in Heves shows a more regular shape than the Neolithic enclosures systems excavated in the Great Plain and does not surround the settlement, but is located outside it. On its surface, in addition to ceramics indicating the disturbance of the Sarmatian period, Neolithic and Copper Age ceramic fragments can be collected. Nearby, to the northeast, the Heves–Vajdaföldek site can be found, with which, based on geophysical surveys, Czigler can be connected. In addition to the Sarmatian settlement traces, Neolithic and Copper Age settlement traces can be observed on Vajdaföldek. Southeast of Czigler, approx. 500 m from the Heves–Nagy-Dobó Tag 2, Copper Age site is located. Based on previous research in 2004, southwest of Heves, approx. at a distance of 50-60 km, the nearest late Alföld LBK Culture enclousers can be found on the Cegléd–Váróczi-Hodula and the Abony–Serkeszék-dűlő (sites 6 and 7 in Fig. 10). In 2021, during a field trip, we identified a Neolithic site showing Szakálháti group, „Szilmeg” (type of ceramics) features, about 6 km southeast of Heves, in the border of Hevesvezekény. Satellite images and geophysical surveys indicate an irregular enclouser trench shape at the site. We do not yet know the complete structure and exact age of the trench system in Heves–Czigler, because of that, further field research and natural science investigations are needed.
