The creation of the Grandmont High school in Tours (1954-1963): put in high school the technical education. As the largest high school in the Orléans-Tours school district and one of the largest in France, Grandmont school has the unique status of being a high school also offering technical training. However, the technical side of the high school was not present from the beginning. First, this article looks at the challenges and the motivations leading to the creation of this new high school in Tours and the choice of location. Then, it examines the later addition of technical training from the conception to the construction of the school. Finally, the article will analyze the reasons why the high school is often identified as a "factory".
