Mechatron
|
Mechatron is a giant robot created by Epyx that appears in the 1986 video game The Movie Monster Game.
Name
Mechatron's name is derived from that of Megatron, the Transformers Decepticon upon which he is based.
Design
The game's instruction manual gives Mechatron a visor and wings, and overall depicts him as very similar to the Autobot Topspin. In-game he has a single eye instead of a visor, no mouth, and no wings.
History
- The Movie Monster Game (1986) - Apple II, Commodore 64, Evercade
The Movie Monster Game
Created to serve the military, errors and bugs in his programming made him go rogue. He destroyed the facility and escaped with only war and destruction on his mind. He kept attacking cities in order to refuel, or due to radio signals that his mind interpreted as attack orders. In the Rescue scenario, the army keeps researching giant robots and make a smaller one. As soon as this new robot becomes active, a mental connection is made between it and Mechatron, who swiftly comes to rescue his new child.
Abilities
Physical abilities
The game's instruction manual describes Mechatron as "capable of moderate speed" with strength "equal to Godzilla's."[3]
Durability
The game's instruction manual states that Mechatron is made of "the strongest [t]itanium alloy," making him "very tough."[3]
Laser
Mechatron is equipped with a "devastating laser weapon" intended to "destroy attackers before they come within reach."[2][3]
Weaknesses
Mechatron would be destroyed if he entered water, as it shorts out his circuitry. He also can't repair himself due to escaping his creators before his programing was finished.[3]
