Alarnil
Alarnil was the son of the Warden of Athel Maraya during the War of the Beard. [1a]
History
As his scouts discovered a Dwarf throng approaching his city, his father ordered the evacuation of the women and children on the various ships in the harbour, leaving only the Anarian and its crew to support the defense. At first the defense held fast, the initial assault by the army of Morgrim Bargrum being repulsed but soon the city came under heavy bombardment. [1a]
As days passed, the eastern gatehouse began to crack under the pressure and Lord Kiarell led a sortie out to try and destroy the siege engines. He and his Silver Helms fought their way through the Dwarf lines, cutting down Snekki One-thumb but as they reached the war machines, all the cavalry but Kiarell and Alarnil were killed by a last volley. They rode on but the Warden was knocked from his mount by the enraged engineer, Olaf Greatnose. As his father he rose to his feet, Alarnil impaled Olaf with his lance but Morgrim arrived with his warriors and quickly overwhelmed the two elves. [1a]
Lord Kiarell met his end fighting against the oncoming Dwarfs, giving time for his badly injured son to escape with a few survivors aboard the Anarian. [1b]
