Nothing Special   »   [go: up one dir, main page]

I really like the aesthetic of each Archeron sister and I wish it was played up more towards their personality and how they’re perceived. It is to some extent but I want to like breathe that paint, hear that music, smell that fresh baked bread. Ya feel? Like…

Feyre Archeron: The girl who has paint splattered everywhere, on every piece of clothing–some part of her skin. A bit chaotic and sometimes stressed. Messy is her persona personified. Casual clothing. Clothing that’s a mixture of a lot of colors, patterns, textures, or all black. No in-between. Tattoos. Always carrying a side bag with a notebook and small paint set, because she likes painting in random places. Her perspective just a little too the left of everyone else’s. A bit mad-hatter-esque.

Nesta Archeron: Dark academia and classical music. Ballroom dancing and ballet. Elegance personified. Pin straight spine and nose up in the air. Fine fabrics and a lot of lace. Neutral colors. Skirts and lace up boots. Books smarts, and a well of off the wall knowledge that is mostly useless until specific instances. Talks a lot or not at all. No in between. Knows 4 languages, learning 3 instruments, dances classes on the side. Casual overachiever. Learning comes easy to her, but god forbid she have to socialize. That is not her thing. Troublemaker and unexpectedly good at sneaking around and getting away with things.

Elain Archeron: Cottagecore to the max. Bright colors and so much floral. Warm and bright. Always smiling. Peaceful and relaxed. Knows the language of flowers. Gifts plants or baked goods at random times. Can be found in the marketplace at any given day. Mostly outdoors or the windows must be open. Unexpectedly messy. She either has dirt on her clothes or flour in her hair. Very structured and follows direction well. Measurements to a T, timing to a millisecond. A little bit ornery about it. Doesn’t handle unexpected change very well, but provided she has all her needs met, she’s pretty adaptable. A bit of a tree hugger.

I hope we get more clarity on the lore/religion/species division of the ACOTAR world. Because I am so confused with it tbh. Like it doesn’t really matter, but it does. Because in TOG, we know so much about everything. I mean it took forever to get to that point, but it was pretty packed full of detail. In CC, we know EVERYTHING of every type of person that exists, the world, the planets, etc.

In ACOTAR, it’s very… laissez faire.

Like Nesta was labeled death for a while, but why? Because we didn’t see any of that power. We just know it was overwhelming and there was a lot. We also didn’t see her really being a death god. Granted we don’t know much about what a death god does, but we know more now because of the whole spiel with Lanthys. That a death god is just someone who is harder to kill. I’m assuming because of their non-corporeal form, maybe? Or… power. Nesta gets hurt a lot physically, so I doubt she could have escaped death or was invincible. So what is she?

Personally, I thought there was only three death gods left: Koschei, The Bone Carver, and The Weaver. But that wasn’t the case. We also got Lanthys and everything in the prison, I’m assuming is labeled a death god, because Cassian mentioned the other creatures…Lubia and Annis. Essentially, they’re just powerful beings before the fae that all get lumped together I’m assuming.

But are they not Daglan???? Is that a different species? Or would they not just label death gods as Daglan? It confuses me too that Amren got captured because they were hunting these ancient rulers when fae overthrew and that’s how she got thrown in the prison. But almost all of the creatures we know in there are just ones Cassian hunted down? Are there many in there?

The Mother confuses me a little too, because according to text she spilled the cauldron to give magic and life to the known world, to Prythrian specifically. But did she predate the Daglan? Is she considered a Daglan? Does everyone believe in the Mother and if it’s only Prythrian specific, then… who the hell is she?

We also get a lot more creatures outside of human vs. fae. We now have kelpie, pegasi, hounds, the Daglan, death gods, witches mentioned, nymphs, Illyrians… Is it just that anything that is not high fae is labeled lesser fae and fits into a category? Fae or other?

But then who are the high fae really? What species do they belong to? Because we also get the mention of ancient fae, which seems to be different than the high fae we know now.

I need Rhys not to be the only person who knows anything. Because he doesn’t have too much information. Amren doesn’t know anything conveniently. Like that’s why I really want Koschei to be around or Helion even, Beron even, like get me older people. Exchange information, because it’s driving me nuts. We’re four books in and we really still don’t know anything about Prythrian, or the culture of prythrian. We know a fair amount of the Night Court, but even so Nesta was the one who found so much more there in the prison.

A lot of the themes of this book is about time, and the plot as loose as it is, is seeming to be shrouded in the past and the origin of fae and magic and creatures and things that were there but are no longer, hence the prison, hence the pegasi not being there, hence the hint of an 8th court, Koschei, Fionn, weapons lost, etc. So…. when are we going to know more?

I hope to god we get some answers and not to just keep adding questions. There’s only 2 books left and 2 novellas as far as we know.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but…

y’all need to accept the fact that ALL of these characters are and can be horrible people. This is not anti post, this is a let characters be morally grey post. They’re flawed, accept that already.

I’m tired of seeing posts like but–but Nesta– But Nesta what? We already know what her flaws are. They’ve been highlighted from day one. They’ve been acknowledged by every character including herself. They have never once been excused, nor empathized with though she needed that severely. She has made friends and no friends by being the way she is. She has made friends who understand her, and has a family who doesn’t understand her. Friends who take into account that she has been through horrible things, and a family who has not. A family who in her own POV has left her behind, because they did. I said this about Feyre, I’ll say this about Nesta, if in a POV someone says someone wronged them THEY DID. But she is not easy, and sometimes not nice. We know this, we accept this. I stan her for this because emotion often is not beautiful, but stop pointing out her flaws like we don’t know. We all know! We also know that she was aggressive for a reason, she was hateful for a reason, she was in a very low place, and she deserved healing and better, unjudgmental treatment by other people which she didn’t get. She helped in a war, she tried to get Feyre back, she talked to the High lord, advocated for the humans, showed she cared for Cassian in ACOWAR, etc, too. We know her perspective is biased and she’s never once been excused for her mistakes, but other character’s are not treated like Nesta is (like Lucien is, Like Eris is, Like Jurian is).

So, let me go through the ways that all of these characters are imperfect and that you just have to accept as a reader. Okay? Okay.

Love is Bright Red, Hope is Dark Blue (Part 1/3)

Summary: A continuation of both Nesta’s Love is Quiet, and Cassian’s Love is Warm. Nesta has learned to accept her new life, her role in it, the power she has, but she must now face her family and decide where her home truly is and whether or not she can forgive all those who’ve hurt her.

I don’t know if anyone really cares about this fic anymore… but I should finish something fully. So, here it is. I have not edited it though, so (shrugs)

I have this headcanon that the House of Wind starts being extra nice to Cassian after officially mating with Nesta. Like making sure his weapons are polished. His leathers are clean. That when he comes back weary from a long day from the Illyrian war camps, there’s a plate of his favorite food and a hot bath waiting whether Nesta is there or not. Like a salute to “my girl loves you, so I’ll take care of you too.”

Alternatively, when Cassian and Nesta get into a fight, the house almost always sides with Nesta. You will hear multiple doors slamming from all the way at the other ends of hallways… Well, until it thinks they’ve taken it too far than you best believe that house is going to withhold all amenities until they make up and or lock them in a room together.

The Potential of this Series: An Analysis *may contain spoilers

I’m telling you right now that the main problems I have with this book, though I loved this book, have everything to do with the fucking PLOTTTT!!!!!! So many holes!!!!! So many unanswered questions, but not in the way that seem to be left there on purpose, but so many that seem like SJM crammed as much as she could and 3/4′s through the book, the editor told her there was a page limit or some shit.

My next main problem is I don’t see and I will never see how this one couple one book thing is going to work. Especially if she keeps it romance heavy, lacking a plot structure. That’s where I start to lose faith in the future of these books, not because I didn’t like this book because I did really like Nesta and Cassian’s journey even if I did disagree with some of it and I do have excitement for Elain’s journey whoever the hell she ends up with, she’s a character that needs to be fleshed out. I also did like this EPIC lore, but is she writing all of these stories like some epic???? Where you get only as much detail as you need and you move on and happy ending and that’s it. Like it doesn’t add up. You can’t have a character who is potentially more powerful than anyone in this universe, introduce so many baddies that only she can slay really, and then be like oh well…. her story has ended here, I had to wrap this shit up lol. Like it makes me laugh. Koschei is going to be the main boss, let’s be honest, he’s been foreshadowed forever. Koschie the deathless, who is going to beat him but death herself? And I know Elain has power, but how much? Because she was gifted it, Nesta took a whole bunch–makes and unmakes thing, curses, death–no death. The cauldron is still a problem apparently or Nesta wouldn’t have a bond with it now. The MOTHER. There’s still apparently the question of who put all of these items around the courts, we have this fucking Supreme Lord idea or whatever the hell, Amren seems to be hungry for power lol, Vallahan still hasn’t signed the treaty like it’s the only country that exists, what the hell has Mor been doing? Cassian clearly will not be a courtier. Eris still needs his father dead. Azriel has problems that no one knows about that I don’t know even know how it’s going to be relevant to the plot or even how it can be resolved in one book, because he’s a horribly traumatized person. We still have Vassa whose cursed, still queens running ape shit. So, like you see…..

How is this going to work???????? Huh?????? In three books and two novellas (though I remember one novella suppose to be a prequel or something)

It’s not.

Should we all have already known this book would take some time getting used to? Bc like we had to get use to the new cover that was… different. We got very minimal spoilers the entire time. All of the Insta lives were disappointing. Everyone argued incessantly about the morality of every character and redemption etc etc. So maybe we all had too high expectations???
