TV show description:
On this comedy series, Rob (Rob Schneider) is a successful landscape architect who has Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Formerly a life-long bachelor, Rob has a whirlwind romance and marries Maggie (Claudia Bassols), a young, beautiful, and smart book translator. She’s way out of his league and he knows it.
After eloping to Las Vegas, Maggie and Rob must break the news to her overprotective and judgmental parents — sarcastic Rosa (Diana Maria Riva) and cynical Fernando (Cheech Marin). Shocked by the news that they’ve eloped, the family remains skeptical of Maggie’s choice for a husband. The exception is her uncle Hector (Eugenio Derbez), the black sheep of the family who immediately declares himself to be Rob’s best friend.
Rob attempts to be closer to them, often ending in disastrous results — despite his good intentions. He hopes that he will one day win over Maggie’s close-knit Mexican-American family — in-laws, aunts, uncles, and Maggie’s Abuelita (Lupe Ontiveros) — and live happily ever after with his one true love.
Episode eight — Dad Comes to Visit
Rob’s father, George (guest Fred Willard), comes to visit. When George interacts with Maggie’s family far more than he ever has with his own son, Rob gets jealous and confronts his father about their fractured relationship.
After faking a heart attack to avoid the conversation, George eventually relents and admits that he was afraid of being a terrible father to Rob, so he ended up not being much of a father at all. Rob and George agree to take things slow and try to build a real father-son relationship in the future.
Meanwhile, Rosa wants to prove to Fernando that she can teach Hector to make delicious tamales, but he proves to be hopeless in the kitchen. Determined not to let Fernando win, she enlists Abuelita to make tamales which Hector then successfully passes off as his own.
First aired: March 1, 2012
What do you think? Are you sorry that ¡ROB! has been cancelled? What would you have liked to see happen in season two?
It’s a really funny show, About Rob and his wife and family. I want to know what will happen to it.
I really liked the show..they should really bring it back..it was teal funny.
Rob Scneider has had a history of short-lived TV sitcoms (like the really hilarious one on NBC he had for two seasons: “men Behaving Badly”), and yet- he is very funny and versatile. I was so happy to see him in his own series “Rob” on CBS…it was really hilarious at times, and overall a good and funny premise. I really wanted to see this return….Rob wasn’t given a long-enough chnace to prove himself, and he simply needs smart comedy writers to assist him- like those who made “Seinfeld”, ‘Friends”, and ‘Two And A Half Men” the successes that they… Read more »
Just one season more I think its hard to see if a show is going to catch on by one season it is usually word of mouth that a show continues one season not long enough
