Since it is highly desirable in the reuse of historic monuments not only to maintain their values but to promote them in contemporary life, authenticity is considered one of the measures of success in adaptive reuse projects. Nara Grid, which is designed concerning authenticity, is used as a tool to assess the authenticity of cultural heritage. This paper investigates authenticity in the adaptive reuse of Manouchehri House in Kashan based on the Nara Grid. The importance of this house lies in the fact that it is one of the first which has been reused by the private sector in this city and also has managed to encourage private sector partnership in the reuse of houses in this city and other historic cities of Iran. In the Architecture of Iran, the vernacular architecture of Bushehr‟s historic city is distinctive since it is both introverted and extroverted and has different semi-open interior and exterior spaces. Tarameh is one of these semi-open spaces. Using a qualitative research method, conducting desk and field studies and reviewing the technical documents of the historic buildings of Bushehr, this paper collected the information of historic buildings of this city that has Tarameh to study their typology. According to the study of 29 buildings, it was revealed that Taramehs fall into three categories based on their location in the building. These types include exterior, middle, and interior, among which interior is the most widely used. Moreover, Taramehs are either enclosed on three sides, two sides, or one side. The historical urban landscape is a new approach towards the historical city as the product of human interaction with micro ecosystem over the passage of time that has recently gained a special position in urban conservation. This paper begins with raising the question that how this approach can be used to solve the challenges of conservation and development of historical cities. Vernacular architecture is the product of the interaction between local residents and the nature in geographical area which results in unique achievements in providing physical, mental and intellectual needs of human. Islamic architecture in different territories has taken on various representations in harmony with natural and cultural contexts. Vernacular architecture of Bushehr Port is one the representations which encompasses features distinguished from those of other cities in the northern coastline of the Persian Gulf. Due to the special geographical position of this port and connection with other countries, one of the features is the existence of an element called “Shanashir» in the building facades, which has contributed to the interior-exterior architectural pattern of Bushehr Port, as well as privacy fulfilment. Shanashir is generally known as a wooden element appended to the interior and exterior façade of the building. Despite the growing number of women entering profession and practicing architecture in Iran within recent years, still the lack of role model among female architecture students is observable. Given that role models boost self-esteem by countering negative stereotypes that cast doubt on a person’s abilities to perform well in the biased profession,1 the scarcity of female role models in architecture can be profoundly damaging. Mainstream architectural history has failed to include the contribution of women in evaluation of Iran’s modern architecture and as a result, their practice has remained unknown to younger generation. Through their absence from any historiography of Iran’s architecture, there are limited sources of information about this first generation of women architects; either they are known by names or they are linked to buildings, but their involvement remains uncertain. The only scholar regarding women’s endeavour is Sirus Bavar mentioning the practice of these architects through narrating the International Congress of Women Architects (1976) in Ramsar,2 however, referring to projects designed and built in association of women and their co-workers, as the same cliché women’s contributions is omitted. The study of gender as such in Iranian historiography still remains a new frontier. Vanished within the patriarchal structure of Iranian modernity, the instrumental female role in reformulating the life of a modern society has largely been ignored.
