Flarhoon13 on Unleashing the Maelstrom: Yidris' Controlled Chaos

Played a couple games. Yidris sputtered out, again, probably should have mulliganed.

Second try, Yidris kept hitting land drops. Suspended Wheel of Fate, Turn 3 Waste Not. Turn 4 Primal Amulet  Flip, Turn 5 Dark Petition. Taylor on Henzie "Toolbox" Torre, mostly, had hit me down to 3, the other players could have killed me. Taylor destroyed my Waste Not in response to the Wheel of Fate being cast; he channeled Boseiju, Who Endures. No matter. That gave me the Island I needed to cast the Turnabout that I would not have been able to cast otherwise. Main phase, cast Seething Song to flip into Primal Wellspring  Flip, allowing me to copy Emergent Ultimatum. Got to cast Time Warp, and Ghostly Flicker while Dualcaster Mage got shuffled back. No matter. Used Increasing Vengeance to copy the original Emergent Ultimatum, again! Will and Thomas had already conceded but Taylor started arguing about the stack before angrily leaving, repeating, "I'm done! I'm done!" Would have had infinite mana with some extra turns, probably an Aetherflux Reservoir to boot.

Flarhoon13 on Garth, where are the bodies, Garth?

Turn 4 was my first spell Reclamation Sage, "call me Rec" for Jesse's Eidolon of Rhetoric... I wanted my opponents to flood the board for my Phyrexian Rebirth. The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride had already hit me for 7. Turn 5, Mirari's Wake. Turn 6, Phyrexian Rebirth took out 4 of my opponents' creatures plus Rec Sage. I had floated enough for Garth One-Eye as well. Turn 7 my excitement for a giant Villainous Wealth was entirely dampened by Ethersworn Canonist. I cast Hydra Broodmaster with six mana available from lands plus a possible Black Lotus for 9, so I could monstrify for four 4/4s. I realized in this turn cycle, though... I should have just Disenchanted the Ethersworn Canonist. I ended up using Garth to cast his Disenchant, which worked out fine. Turn 8, I untapped, cast Black Lotus into Villainous Wealth for x=10, targeting Seth (The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride). It was the right choice. Among 8 total nonlands, I hit a Rune-Scarred Demon, which fetched the Palinchron. I used my remaining 5 mana from Orzhov Basilica and City of Brass to Time Warp. Turn 8, again, I generated infinite mana with the Palinchron and Mirari's Wake, so, creating a million hydras of enormous size. Garth One-Eye cast Regrowth on the Time Warp, allowing me to kill my opponents on my next extra turn

Niko9 on Top ten most toxic commanders.

Bookrook That's really true, maybe Rogakh is less toxic and more, why does this card exist?

Maybe Urza, High Lord Artificer? The combination of Winter Orb effects and Time Warp effects can be pretty lame to play against. Staxing down the table and then having those stax pieces tap for mana to go into extra turns is definitely the most solitaire deck I've ever played against in EDH.

Apoptosis on Wheel in the Sky

Updated!

Out are cards that help opponents or don't have ideal synergy or add to the major mechanics: Anvil of Bogardan, Horn of Greed, Dictate of Kruphix, Howling Mine, Temporal Mastery, Time Warp, Smoke, Sign in Blood, Mystic Retrieval, Dismal Backwater, Doom Blade, Damnable Pact.

In (reanimation theme and some targets for reanimation): Exhumefoil (not 100% on this one), Soul Exchange (idealy would want one that could target all graveyards), Dance of the Dead, Animate Dead, Liliana of the Veil, Necromancy, Sire Of Insanity (bomb that minimizes opponent's ability to profit from the wheel), Mangara's Tome (I love this as a way to stack all of my reanimation cards, or anything else that I want to protect from my own wheel effects. Curious to see how it plays. The sceptor is included for the same reason), Sepulchral Primordial, Diluvian Primordial, and Molten Primordial.

Need to get an Academy Ruins.

I would suggest running Capture of Jingzhou and/or Temporal Manipulation instead; to avoid having someone Deflecting Swat or Redirect your Time Warp to themselves!

I have replaced Brainbite and Time Warp with Make an Example and Syphon Flesh, since the newer cards better fit the theme of this deck; I also plan to replace Undermine, but I am not certain with what care I shall replace it.

I have replaced Brainbite, Time Warp, and Undermine with Make an Example, Syphon Flesh, and Psychic Strike, since the latter cards better fit the theme of this deck; I also plan to eventually replace both Plasm Capture and Simic Charm, since I feel that those cards do not fully fit the theme of this deck, either.

On the specific topic of Time Warp in multiplayer formats - it suffers a similar problem to Board-Wipes: if the caster has no way to profit from casting the spell, then the outcome of the game remains the same but with a whole lot of wasted time.

Poorly-played board-wipes are obviously far more egregious in this manner, as they’re liable to waste a lot more time, but extra-turn effects can also be a miserable play experience if the caster isn’t making proper of all this extra time.
