European 5G Annual Journal 2023
The 7th and last issue of the European 5G Annual Journal was released at the end of May 2023.
At this point in time, it is worth looking back at the 5G PPP Programme and its achievements as the final projects will be winding up in 2023 and 2024. The outcome is impressive! €713 million dedicated to research, innovation and to delivering solutions, architectures, technologies and standards for building a ubiquitous 5G communication infrastructure in Europe: 93 funded projects, 1,845 participants and 789 unique beneficiaries, involving nearly 85,000 persons/month.

The sixth issue of the European 5G Annual Journal was released at the end of May 2021. Download the Journal here.
COVID-19 has been and still is a tremendous challenge for all people on the planet and has also impacted our constituency. Many activities within the 5G PPP could somewhat advance thanks to remote access to labs and online conferencing. However, we saw delays in most projects, in particular as we are in the third phase of the 5G PPP with many trial and demonstrator activities.However, R&I initiatives on 6G technologies are now starting in leading regions worldwide, with the first products and infrastructures expected for the end of this decade. In January 2021, a first set of 6G projects was launched, worth 60 million EUR under the 5G PPP with the Hexa-X flagship developing a first 6G system concept complemented by 8 projects investigating specific technologies for 6G, putting Europe on a par with our global competitors. In February 2021, the Commission adopted a legislative proposal for the upcoming European partnership on Smart Networks and Services (SNS) towards 6G, the successor of our 5G PPP.

The Fifth issue released in May 2020 can be downloaded here.
The aim of this fifth edition of the European 5G Annual Journal is to present an analysis of the 5G ecosystem evolution over the past year. The projects of the third phase of the 5G PPP show the way for use cases in vertical industries such as transport, manufacturing, energy, health care and media, and deliver on Europe’s 5G trial strategy.

The Fourth issue released in May 2019 can be downloaded here.
The aim of this fourth edition of the European 5G Annual Journal is to present an analysis of the 5G ecosystem evolution over the past year. It presents the achievements of phase 2 5G PPP projects ending in 2019 and August 2020 and phase 3 5G PPP projects, which started in 2018.

Europe is entering into a critical phase in the global race to 5G and so is the 5G PPP. In that respect, this third edition aims to present how 5G PPP Phase II master 5G technologies and look into their application with relevant users in particular vertical industries.

The Second issue released in September 2017 can be downloaded here. The aim of this second edition is to present an analysis of the 5G ecosystem evolution over the past year. It presents the achievements of 5G PPP phase 1 projects almost two years after their launch.
