Ryder is a second generation stunt performer and completed his first onscreen stunt acting performance at 3 years of age. Both parents (Dane Grant and Dayna Pai), older brother (Trae Shute) and sister (Kaiya Shute) have all been involved in the film industry. Ryder often hangs around the family owned, New Zealand Stunt School where he joins in the stunt training sessions.
