Shun Lauren has been acting, singing and print modeling since the age
of eight years old. Born in Dallas, Texas but raised in Port Huron,
Michigan, Shun took a strong liking to the arts. Starting with
performing the National Anthem at local games and competing in talent
shows in Michigan, Shun was scouted by a local acting teacher and
started performing in theatre productions and commercials. Shun was
chosen as Houston's New Actor to Watch for 2013.
At the tender age of thirteen, Shun began print modeling for JC Penney, New Yorker Kid, and Macys. He has made his way into films such as Jook Joint Blues, which premiered at the Houston Alamo Theater. He can also be seen as a featured model in an ad for Houston's iconic Discovery Park.
Shun loves to take on challenging roles that stretch his craft. He received accolades for his role as the suicidal teenager Hunter in the stage play A Heart Is A House. He was also chosen to play the part of a young man suffering from cerebral palsy in the independent film, A Better Lyfe. A Better Lyfe is based on a true story of the horrific murders of two siblings that changes the lives of those around them forever.
Shun was picked out of nearly 2,000 submissions to fly to St. Louis and audition for the award-winning director Michael J. Larnell for the feature film Cronies. The film is being partially funded by Spike Lee and the Tisch School of Arts (NYC). Shun's most recent role was as Marquis Johnson, a young man disabled man who was viciously murdered by a family friend.
Shun holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Psychology from the University of North Texas and is completing his master's degree, along with preparing for several upcoming acting roles.
In May 2015, Shun started filming Jerico, directed by Seckeita Lewis. Shun plays Thomas Cook, Jr, in this story of best friends, Jarvis Cook and Jerico Walker, living in 1964 rural Mississippi.Together they challenge the restrictions and bias' of Jim Crow and set out on a dangerous, but comedic journey to fulfill the lifelong dream Jarvis' father never could. Jerico will be released in 2016.
Shun has recently completed production on the short film, Better Without You, directed by Chandler Moake. Shun plays the title role of Tyler, who must come to terms with accepting his father is incarcerated.
