Franjo Tudjman was born on 14 May 1922 in Veliko Trgovisce, Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes [now Croatia]. He was married to Ankica Tudjman. He died on 10 December 1999 in Zagreb, Croatia.
He became the first president of Croatia on May 30, 1990 and proclaimed
the country's declaration of independence a year later. During the 90s,
he was reelected twice and remained on this position until his death on
December 10, 1999.
