A multitalented artist of remarkable versatility in all facets of his prolific work, Giannis Savvidakis was born on April 1, 1963 in the Municipality of Zografou (Athens). Cultivating consistently his marvelous charisma in music from a very young age, he began studying guitar and violin during his childhood. Together with his acclaimed live shows, up to 2024, his multifaceted course regarding songwriting and singing has been exquisitely expressed through a discography of six solo albums (two of them awarded as gold ones and one platinum) and one CD single (gold).
From 1993 to 1995 he participated as an actor in the basic cast of the memorable and successful Greek TV sitcom Tis Ellados ta paidia (1993) (i.e. "The Children of Greece') with his show-stealing role of airman Giannis (aka Giovanni) Dallas, where he composed the series score too. Among others, his notable TV acting work includes Mikroi - megaloi (1986) and Gynaikes (1992), both written by Mirella Papaeconomou. In 2003, he was also chosen for the singing and narration of Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (2002) translated in Greek (originally sung by Bryan Adams and narrated by Matt Damon) resulting an excellent performance, which has been considered by DreamWorks Animation to be the best of any other international version of the film.
In 2014, he was the winner in the popular Greek TV contest show Your Face Sounds Familiar (2013)-Season 2, awarded for his staggering transformation into Psaradonis. Exceeding by far any 'frame' describing 'margins' of a mere superficial impersonation, this award-winning stupendous performance followed in sublime harmony the tour de force tradition of his previous fantastic ones respectively. In that show, being great both as an actor and as a singer, Giannis Savvidakis interpreted unparalleled 'incarnations' of artists such as Joe Cocker, Elton John, Tina Turner, Lucio Dalla, Giorgos Margaritis, Boy George, Robert Plant, Stamatis Kokotas and (in a deeply moving and mesmerizingly breath-taking performance) Amy Winehouse, all of them uniquely enriched by the sharpness of his creative genius full of profoundness, sensitivity and insights. The same year, he also delivered an astonishing stage performance as Rooster Hannigan in a Greek production of Martin Charnin's, Thomas Meehan's and Charles Strouse's musical "Annie" in Athens.
