Slice of Perfect & Messy Reality

So first of all let me say that I love me some Baby Rabies.  I love her honesty and her wit.  So when she posted a photography challenge a few months ago (yeah, a few months ago and I'm just getting around to posting about it, don't judge me) I knew I wanted to participate.  I love the idea of exposing how easy it is to crop out the "messy" parts of our lives so that everything on the web (and Facebook) looks all clean and perfect.

So this is what I've got.  My Slice of Perfect...

And my Messy Reality…

Chip It! by Sherwin-Williams

I stumbled upon a very cool, new, fun, tool the other day.  It's called Chip It! and it's from Sherwin-Williams.  Once you add the bookmark to your toolbar you can create a paint chip pallet from any of your pictures.  This picture is a bucket of strawberries from our recent vacation.  Just be warned that it's very addictive to Chip It! all your pictures.

Photo Mosaic

I wanted to share a little home project I've been working on.  This is a photo mosaic with pictures of the two kids that I put up in the hallway between their two rooms.  The wall decal came from Kohl's and the 5x5 photo plaques are from Shutterfly.

12x12x12 - March

Another reminder that it's the 12th of the month and that means it's time to pick up the camera and take at least 12 pictures of the world around you.

12x12x12 - February

Here are my picture from the 12th of February.  I'm really glad I took on this project.  I'm horrible about picking up the camera to capture random everyday events.  To be honest I probably would have never thought to take pictures of the kids hanging out in Kiley's crib if I hadn't forced myself.  Hopefully at the end of 2012 I'll be better trained at capturing more of our everyday loveliness.  You can see my 12 pictures from January 12th here.

12x12x12 - February

Just a reminder that it's the 12th of the month and that means it's time to get out your camera and capture at least 12 pictures of your family.  If anyone out there is doing this along with me I'd LOVE to see your pictures.  Post in the comments and I'll be sure to share them next week.

12x12x12 - January

I wanted to share a little project that I've started for 2012.  I'm hoping some of you will join me on this photo documentary project.  Last year I resolved to take 1 family picture of all 4 of us each month.  This year I'm doing something a little different.  For 2012 I'm going to be taking 12 pictures on the 12th of each month for 12 months.  Get it - 12x12x12!  I realize that the 12th of the month has already passed and that January is almost over and that if I were a better and more prepared blogger I would have put this up earlier.  But let's not dwell on my mistakes.  Let's focus on documenting the everyday loveliness of your family.

So here's what I propose.  Go and run and get your camera and take at least 12 pictures of your family, your life right now.  We'll count this as January and going forward I promise to post a reminder ON the 12th of the month instead of 2 weeks later.

2011 Photo Project

Last year I stole an idea from the fabulous Tara Whitney. She had posted about taking a family picture every month for the entire year in 2010.  I was completely inspired.  So my resolution for 2011 was to follow in her footsteps and take a family picture of the 4 of us every single month for an entire year.  I'm excited to share that I did accomplish my goal and I loved the pictures so much that I used them as our Christmas card for 2011.

I also created a photobook in Shutterfly.  I'll be sharing that project tomorrow.  For 2012 I have a new photo documentary project that I'm also going to be sharing in the next few days.
