BRENEY COMMON AND CROFT PASCOE

WE FINALLY GOT BLACK DARTER AT BRENEY COMMON,
IT TOOK THREE VISITS BUT WAS WELL WORTH IT.
MOST OF THE REST WERE TAKEN AT CROFT PASCOE
PLANTATION WHICH IS USUALLY BRILLIANT FOR HAWKERS
BUT HAD A VERY POOR SHOWING WHEN WE WERE THERE.

LIZARD sp.
SPOTTED FLYCATCHER
I CAN'T MAKE UP MY MIND ABOUT THE NEXT TWO.
ARE THEY COMMON OR MIGRANT?
THE COSTA APPEARS YELLOW, AS IN
COMMON HAWKER BUT THE ABDOMEN DIPS
AT THE END SO MAY BE MIGRANT HAWKER.

Up Close to Nature.

This is a selection of recent insect shots. The Privet Hawk-Moth was found (as a chrysalis) in the garden of our friend Nigel, who brought it around for John to see, once it had pupated.

Catching Up.

Here are some pictures from the last few days. Nice to see some decent butterflies, they are not as numerous as last year. Hoping to catch up with some Dragonflies over the week-end.

This shot shows where the Elephant Hawk-Moth gets it's name. It's the first one we've seen.

Our Daughter found it in her garden and brought it to us to identify.
