- Reptilase time (RT) is a blood test used to detect deficiency or abnormalities in fibrinogen, especially in cases of heparin contamination. Reptilase, an enzyme found in the venom of Bothrops snakes, has activity similar to thrombin. Unlike thrombin, reptilase is resistant to inhibition by antithrombin III. Thus, the reptilase time is not prolonged in blood samples containing heparin, hirudin, or direct thrombin inhibitors, whereas the thrombin time will be prolonged in these samples. Reptilase also differs from thrombin by releasing fibrinopeptide A, but not fibrinopeptide B, in its cleavage of fibrinogen. (en)
- Le temps de reptilase est un test chronométrique facile et automatisable décrivant la transformation du fibrinogène en fibrine (fibrinoformation) ; mesurée par le temps de coagulation d'un plasma sanguin citraté lors de l'ajout de venin (autrefois de reptile, d'où son nom). La reptilase transforme le fibrinogène en fibrine. Cependant contrairement à la thrombine la reptilase est insensible à l'héparine. Ce temps, comme le temps de thrombine, sera allongé par la présence d'inhibiteur (à effet ), comme du P.D.Fibrine, mais contrairement au temps de thrombine il n'est pas allongé par la présence d'héparine (notamment utile pour la recherche d´anticorps anti-phospholipides) . En cas d'allongement du temps de thrombine, le temps de reptilase permet donc de préciser si cet allongement est induit par une présence d'antithrombine (héparine). - Il tempo di reptilasi (spesso abbreviato cn la sigla RT dall'inglese reptilase time) è un esame effettuato sul sangue per rilevare la deficienza o anomalie nel fibrinogeno, specialmente in casi di contaminazione da eparina. La reptilasi, un enzima che si trova nel veleno dei serpenti del genere Bothrops ha un'azione simile a quella della trombina. A differenza della trombina, la reptilasi è resistente all'inibizione dell'antitrombina III. Per questa sua caratteristica, il tempo di reptilasi non è influenzato dalla presenza di eparina, irudina o da inibitori diretti della trombina mentre il tempo di trombina in questi campioni risulterebbe aumentato. La reptilasi differisce dalla trombina anche per il fatto che durante la sua dissociazione in fibrinogeno rilascia il fibrinopeptide A ma non il fibropeptide B.
