Design of the analog front-end for the Timepix3 and Smallpix hybrid pixel detectors in 130 nm CMOS technology / Gaspari, M De (CERN) ; Alozy, J (CERN) ; Ballabriga, R (CERN) ; Campbell, M (CERN) ; Fröjdh, E (CERN) ; Idarraga, J (CERN) ; Kulis, S (CERN) ; Llopart, X (CERN) ; Poikela, T (CERN) ; Valerio, P (CERN) et al.
This paper describes a front-end for hybrid pixel readout chips, which was developed for the Timepix3 and Smallpix ASICs. The front-end contains a single-ended preamplifier with a structure for leakage current compensation which can handle both signal polarities, and a single-threshold discriminator with compensation for pixel-to-pixel mismatch. A simulator for Timepix-like pixel front-ends / Sune, R Ballabriga (CERN) ; Bromberger, H (DESY) ; Campbell, M (CERN) ; Cudie, X Llopart (CERN) ; Christodoulou, P (CERN ; IEAP CTU, Prague) ; Sriskaran, V (CERN) ; Tlustos, L (CERN ; IEAP CTU, Prague)
This work presents the development of a front-end simulation code for the Timepix3 readout chip [1], intended as digitizer stage in full detector simulation. The front-end electronics is modelled using an integrator stage and 3 parallel feedback loops with individually configurable time constants. [...]

A prototype hybrid pixel detector ASIC specifically designed to the requirements of the vertex detector for CLIC is described and first electrical measurements are presented. The chip has been designed using a commercial 65 nm CMOS technology and comprises a matrix of 64x64 square pixels with 25 μm pitch. [...]

A novel monolithic pixelated sensor and readout chip, the CLIC Tracker Detector (CLICTD) chip, is presented. The CLICTD chip was designed targeting the requirements of the silicon tracker development for the experiment at the Compact Linear Collider (CLIC), and has been fabricated in a modified 180 nm CMOS imaging process with charge collection on a high-resistivity p-type epitaxial layer. The Timepix2 ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) is the upgraded successor to the Timepix [1] hybrid pixel detector readout chip. Like the original, Timepix2 contains a matrix of 65k square pixels of 55 μm pitch that can be coupled to a similarly segmented semiconductor sensor, or integrated in an ionising gas detector. [...]

Calibration of ultra-thin hybrid pixel detector assemblies with Timepix readout ASICs / Alipour Tehrani, Niloufar (CERN) ; Arfaoui, Samir (CERN) ; Benoit, Mathieu (Universite de Geneve (CH)) ; Celeste, Damiano (CERN) ; Dannheim, Dominik (CERN) ; Pfleger, Florentina (CERN) ; Redford, Sophie (CERN)
In the framework of vertex detector R&D; for a future Compact Linear Collider, the charac- terisation of ultra-thin hybrid pixel detector assemblies comprising 50 − 300 μm thick silicon sensors and Timepix readout ASICs is underway through beam tests at DESY and CERN. The work presented here supports the beam test data analysis by providing an energy calibra- tion of certain assemblies, so giving access to energy measurements in addition to recorded Time Over Threshold counts.
