Improved surface treatment of the superconducting TESLA cavities / Lilje, L. (DESY) ; Matheisen, A. (DESY) ; Proch, D. (DESY) ; Reschke, D. (DESY) ; Trines, D. (DESY) ; Antoine, Claire Z. (DAPNIA, Saclay) ; Charrier, J.P. (DAPNIA, Saclay) ; Safa, H. (DAPNIA, Saclay) ; Visentin, B. (DAPNIA, Saclay) ; Benvenuti, C. (CERN) et al.
The proposed linear electron-positron collider TESLA is based on 1.3 GHz superconducting niobium cavities for particle acceleration. For a centre-of-mass energy of 500 GeV, an accelerating field of 23.4 MV/m is required which is reliably achieved with a niobium surface preparation by chemical etching. [...]

The Superconducting TESLA Cavities / Aune, B. (Saclay) ; Bandelmann, R. (DESY) ; Bloess, D. (CERN) ; Bonin, B. (Saclay) ; Bosotti, A. (INFN, Milan) ; Champion, M. (Fermilab) ; Crawford, C. (Fermilab) ; Deppe, G. (DESY) ; Dwersteg, B. (DESY) ; Edwards, D.A. (DESY ; Fermilab) et al.
The conceptional design of the proposed linear electron-positron collider TESLA is based on 9-cell 1.3 GHz superconducting niobium cavities with an accelerating gradient of Eacc >= 25 MV/m at a quality factor Q0 > 5E+9. The design goal for the cavities of the TESLA Test Facility (TTF) linac was set to the more moderate value of Eacc >= 15 MV/m. [...]

Electro Polishing of Niobium Cavities at DESY / Matheisen, A ; Lilje, L ; Morales, H ; Petersen, B ; Schmoekel, M ; Steinhau-Kühl, N
At DESY a facility for electro polishing (EP) of the super conducting (s.c.) TESLA/TTF cavities have been built and is operational since summer 2003. The EP infrastructure is capable to handle single-cell structures and the standard TESLA/ TTF nine-cell cavities. [...]

A very High Gradient Test of a 30 GHz Single-Cell Cavity / Braun, H (CERN) ; Luong, M (Saclay) ; Wilson, Ian H (CERN) ; Wuensch, Walter (CERN)
In order to extend the available range of data on achievable accelerating gradients and pulse lengths at the CLIC (Compact Linear Collider) frequency of 30 GHz, a single-cell resonant cavity has been high-gradient tested in the CLIC Test Facility, CTFII. The cavity was excited by a 4 ns long bunched electron beam, resulting in a field pulse with a steep rise, followed by an exponential decay with a 1/e time of 25 ns (corresponding to a loaded Q of 3800). [...]

First Experience with Dry-Ice Cleaning on SRF Cavities / Reschke, D ; Brinkmann, A
The surface of superconducting (s.c.) accelerator cavities must be cleaned from any kind of contaminations, like particles or chemical residues. Contaminations might act as centers for field emission, thus limiting the maximum gradient [...]
