Dose gradient assessment at the new CERN CHARM irradiation facility / Infantino, A (CERN) ; Cangialosi, C (CERN) ; Krawina, M (CERN) ; Brucoli, M (CERN) ; Brugger, M (CERN) ; De Carvalho Saraiva, J P (CERN) ; Danzeca, S (CERN)
CERN CHARM facility provides a unique complex radiation environment characterized by particle energy spectra representative of high-energy accelerators, ground and atmospheric conditions and space applications. CHARM is conceived to be an irradiation facility for the qualification of large electronic systems and components in a mixed field radiation environment generated from the interaction of a 24 GeV/c proton beam with a copper or aluminium target. Impact of neutrons on the RadFET dose response when exposed to mixed-fields / Marzo, M (CERN) ; Alia, R G (CERN) ; Infantino, A (CERN) ; Brucoli, M (CERN) ; Danzeca, S (CERN)
The Radiation MONitoring (RadMON) system is widely employed at CERN to measure the radiation levels in the accelerators, as well as the degradation of electronics located in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) tunnel and shielded areas. Radiation Field Effect Transistors (RadFETs) integrated in the RadMON specifically measure the Total Ionizing Dose (TID) in the accelerators complex and are affected in turn by the CERN radiation field. The CERN High energy AcceleRator Mixed-field test facility (CHARM) has been built with the intention of reproducing different mixed-fields (atmospheric, space, accelerators, ground,…), to test electronics when exposed to specific radiation environments. Design of a radiation tolerant system for total ionizing dose monitoring using floating gate and RadFET dosimeters / Ferraro, R (CERN ; LIRMM, Montpellier) ; Danzeca, S (CERN) ; Brucoli, M (CERN ; IES, Montpellier) ; Masi, A (CERN) ; Brugger, M (CERN) ; Dilillo, L (LIRMM, Montpellier ; CNRS, France)
The need for upgrading the Total Ionizing Dose (TID) measurement resolution of the current version of the Radiation Monitoring system for the LHC complex has driven the research of new TID sensors. The sensors being developed nowadays can be defined as Systems On Chip (SOC) with both analog and digital circuitries embedded in the same silicon. [...]

Thermal neutron SRAM detector characterization at the CERN Mixed Field Facility, CHARM / Cangialosi, C (CERN) ; Danzeca, S (CERN) ; Brucoli, M (CERN) ; Brugger, M (CERN) ; Masi, A (CERN)
The radiation spectra in the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) ranges from GeV down to thermal neutron levels. It is known that the thermal neutrons can significantly affect the electronic devices and systems exposed to the radiation environment of the tunnel and the shielded areas of the LHC. [...]

RadFET dose response in the CHARM mixed-field: FLUKA MC simulations / Marzo, M (CERN) ; Bonaldo, S (CERN) ; Brugger, M (CERN) ; Danzeca, S (CERN) ; Garcia Alia, R (CERN) ; Infantino, A (CERN) ; Thornton, A (CERN)
This paper focuses on Monte Carlo simulations aiming at calculating the dose response of the Rad- FET dosimeter, when exposed to the complex CHARM mixed-fields, at CERN. We study how the dose deposited in the Gate Oxide (SiO2) of the RadFET is affected by the energy threshold variation in the Monte Carlo simulations as well as the materials and sizes of scoring volumes. Study of the Impact of the LHC Radiation Environments on the Synergistic Displacement Damage and Ionizing Dose Effect on Electronic Components / Ferraro, Rudy (CERN ; LIRMM, Montpellier) ; Danzeca, Salvatore (CERN) ; Cangialosi, Chiara (CERN) ; García Alía, Rubén (CERN) ; Cerutti, Francesco (CERN) ; Tsinganis, Andrea (CERN) ; Dilillo, Luigi (LIRMM, Montpellier) ; Brugger, Markus (CERN) ; Masi, Alessandro (CERN)
Bipolar-based components can exhibit a higher (or lower) degradation when exposed to both total ionizing dose (TID) and displacement damage (DD) effects simultaneously than the sum of the two separated effects. This paper investigates the implications of this synergistic effect on the radiation qualification process of large hadron collider's (LHC's) electronic equipment. [...]

Investigation on Passive and Autonomous Mode Operation of Floating Gate Dosimeters / Brucoli, M (CERN ; Montpellier U.) ; Cesari, J (Unlisted, ES) ; Danzeca, S (CERN) ; Brugger, M (CERN) ; Masi, A (CERN) ; Pineda, A (Unlisted, ES) ; Dusseau, L (Montpellier U.) ; Wrobel, F (Montpellier U.)
In the context of achieving an efficient radiation monitoring system, while also aiming to increase the flexibility of the measurement system, the integrated digital and analog circuitries of the floating gate dosimeter (FGDOS) have been upgraded. The capability to control autonomously the recharge process and the easy access to the data allows exploiting the FGDOS in both the autonomous and passive mode. [...]

Characterisation of the radiation hardness of cryogenic bypass diodes for the HL-LHC inner triplet quadrupole circuit / Wollmann, Daniel (CERN) ; Bernhard, Axel (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Cangialosi, Chiara (CERN) ; Cerutti, Francesco (CERN) ; D'Angelo, Giorgio (CERN) ; Danzeca, Salvatore (CERN) ; Denz, Reiner (CERN) ; Favre, Mathieu (CERN) ; Garcia Alia, Ruben (CERN) ; Hagedorn, Dietrich (CERN) et al.
The powering layout of the new HL-LHC Nb$_3$Sn triplet circuits is the use of cryogenic bypass diodes, where the diodes are located inside an extension to the magnet cryostat, operated in superfluid helium and exposed to radiation. Therefore, the radiation hardness of different type of bypass diodes has been tested at low temperatures in CERN’s CHARM irradiation facility during the operational year 2018. [...]
