Investigating the feasibility of delivering higher intensity proton beams to ECN3 at the CERN SPS North Area / Fraser, M A (CERN) ; Brugger, M (CERN) ; Ahdida, C (CERN) ; Arduini, G (CERN) ; Arrutia Sota, P A (CERN) ; Bartosik, H (CERN) ; Bernhard, J (CERN) ; Calviani, M (CERN) ; Colinet, A (CERN) ; Esposito, L S (CERN) et al.
Initiated through the Physics Beyond Colliders (PBC) Study Group there is a strong interest from the scientific community to exploit the full intensity potential of the Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) at CERN for Fixed Target physics experiments before the end of this decade. With the ECN3 cavern in the North Area (NA) identified as a suitable candidate location for a future high-intensity experimental facility compatible with a large variety of experiments, the new PBC ECN3 Beam Delivery Task Force was mandated to assess the feasibility of delivering a slow extracted beam of up to 4x10^19 protons per year at 400 GeV. Assessment of beam-intercepting device robustness for intensity increase in CERN’s North Area / Sharp, C J (CERN) ; Francia, A Romero (CERN) ; Ximenes, R Franqueira (CERN) ; Calviani, M (CERN) ; Grenard, J -L (CERN) ; Mazzola, G (CERN) ; Esposito, L S (CERN) ; Bernhard, J (CERN) ; Mazuecos, A Lafuente (CERN) ; Galan, F Sanchez (CERN) et al.
CERN's North Area comprises several target and experimental systems and is a zone of interest for future development. Provision of beam to this area relies upon several beam-intercepting devices located in various branched transfer lines from the Super Proton Synchrotron. [...]

CERN Super Proton Synchrotron Radiation Environment and Related Radiation Hardness Assurance Implications / Biłko, Kacper (CERN ; Lab. The super proton synchrotron (SPS) is the second largest accelerator at CERN where protons are accelerated between 16 and 450 GeV/c. Beam losses, leading to the mixed-field radiation of up to MGy magnitude, pose a threat to the reliability of the electronic equipment and polymer materials located in the tunnel and its vicinity. P42 T4/XTAX transmission efficiency - FLUKA / Mazzola, Giuseppe (CERN) ; Esposito, Luigi Salvatore (CERN)
The studies reported here are part of the ECN3 Beam Delivery Task Force’s mandate. Designated by the PBC Study Group, the primary objective of the Task Force is to assess the technical feasibility of increasing the proton beam intensity transported along the P42 line to the ECN3 cavern of the North Area in order to satisfy the demands of a set of PBC experimental physics proposals. The ECN3 Beam Delivery Task Force was mandated by the PBC Study Group to assess the technical feasibility of increasing the proton beam intensity to the ECN3 hall of the North Area to satisfy the demands of a compelling set of PBC experimental physics proposals. This report summarises the findings of the Task Force that converge on a technically feasible solution with an implementation timeline that could exploit and build upon the investment already foreseen as part of Phase 1 of the NA-CONS project, and take the SPS complex into a new intensity frontier for Fixed Target physics in Run4..
