Simulations and Measurements of the CCL Modules of the LIGHT Accelerator / Khan, Vasim (Unlisted, CH) ; De Michele, Giovanni (Unlisted, CH) ; Esposito, Marco (Unlisted, CH) ; Fanella, Stefano (Unlisted, CH) ; Gibson, Stephen (Unlisted, CH) ; Gradassi, Paolo (Unlisted, CH) ; Ivanisenko, Yevgeniy (Unlisted, CH) ; Mellace, Claudio (Unlisted, CH) ; Navarro Quirante, Jose Luis (Unlisted, CH) ; Zannini, Carlo (Unlisted, CH)
A 230 MeV proton LINAC system for medical applications is being developed and commissioned for the LIGHT (Linac Image Guided Hadron Therapy) project by AVO-ADAM. The LINAC system consists of a 750 MHz RFQ (Radio frequency quadrupole) for the low energy proton acceleration, 2998 MHz SCDTL (Side Coupled Drift Tube Linacs) for the medium energy and 2998 MHz CCL (Coupled Cavity Linacs) for the high energy. Wakefield damping for the CLIC crab cavity / Ambattu, Praveen Kumar (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Lancaster U.) ; Burt, Graeme (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Lancaster U.) ; Dexter, Amos C. (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Lancaster U.) ; Carter, Richard G. (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Lancaster U.) ; Khan, Vasim (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Manchester U.) ; Jones, Roger M. (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Manchester U.) ; Dolgashev, Valery (SLAC)
A crab cavity is required in the CLIC to allow effective head-on collision of bunches at the IP. A high operating frequency is preferred as the deflection voltage required for a given rotation angle and the RF phase tolerance for a crab cavity are inversely proportional to the operating frequency.
