The Experimental Cavern North 3 (ECN3) is an underground experimental cavern on the CERN Prévessin site. ECN3 currently hosts the NA62 experiment, with a physics programme devoted to rare kaon decays and searches of hidden particles approved until Long Shutdown 3 (LS3). [...]

Feebly-interacting particles: FIPs 2020 workshop report / Agrawal, Prateek (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Bauer, Martin (Durham U., IPPP) ; Beacham, James (Duke U.) ; Berlin, Asher (New York U., CCPP ; New York U.) ; Boyarsky, Alexey (Leiden U.) ; Cebrian, Susana (Zaragoza U.) ; Cid-Vidal, Xabier (Santiago de Compostela U.) ; d'Enterria, David (CERN) ; De Roeck, Albert (CERN) ; Drewes, Marco (Louvain U., CP3) et al.
With the establishment and maturation of the experimental programs searching for new physics with sizeable couplings at the LHC, there is an increasing interest in the broader particle and astrophysics community for exploring the physics of light and feebly-interacting particles as a paradigm complementary to a New Physics sector at the TeV scale and beyond. FIPs 2020 has been the first workshop fully dedicated to the physics of feebly-interacting particles and was held virtually from 31 August to 4 September 2020. [...]

The quest for new physics with the Physics Beyond Colliders programme / Jaeckel, Joerg (Heidelberg U.) ; Lamont, Mike (CERN) ; Vallée, Claude (Marseille, CPPM)
In recent years, interest in complementary methods to high-energy-frontier colliders to investigate the physics of elementary particles and forces has grown. This development is driven by the so-far negative results of searches for new particles with high masses at the Large Hadron Collider, and by theoretical attempts to account for neutrino masses and to solve cosmological puzzles such as dark matter, dark energy and the matter–antimatter asymmetry in the Universe. [...]

Physics Briefing Book : Input for the European Strategy for Particle Physics Update 2020 / Ellis, Richard Keith
The European Particle Physics Strategy Update (EPPSU) process takes a bottom-up approach, whereby the community is first invited to submit proposals (also called inputs) for projects that it would like to see realised in the near-term, mid-term and longer-term future [...]

Light in the beam dump - ALP production from decay photons in proton beam-dumps / Döbrich, Babette (CERN) ; Jaeckel, Joerg (Heidelberg U.) ; Spadaro, Tommaso (Frascati)
The exploration of long-lived particles in the MeV-GeV region is a formidable task but it may provide us a unique access to dark sectors. Fixed-target facilities with sufficiently energetic and intense proton beams are an ideal tool for this challenge. [...]

Summary Report of Physics Beyond Colliders at CERN / Jaeckel, Joerg (CERN) ; Lamont, Mike (CERN) ; Vallee, Claude (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (FR))
Physics Beyond Colliders is an exploratory study aimed at exploiting the full scientific potential of CERN's accelerator complex and its scientific infrastructure in the next two decades through projects complementary to the LHC, HL-LHC and other possible future colliders. These projects should target fundamental physics questions that are similar in spirit to those addressed by high-energy colliders, but that require different types of beams and experiments. [...]

With their high beam energy and intensity, existing and near-future proton beam dumps provide an excellent opportunity to search for new very weakly coupled particles in the MeV to GeV mass range. One particularly interesting example is a so-called axion-like particle (ALP), i.e. [...]

Search for dark matter in the hidden-photon sector with a large spherical mirror / Veberic, Darko (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Daumiller, Kai (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Döbrich, Babette (CERN) ; Engel, Ralph (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Jaeckel, Joerg (U. If dark matter consists of hidden-sector photons which kinetically mix with regular photons, a tiny oscillating electric-field component is present wherever we have dark matter. In the surface of conducting materials this induces a small probability to emit single photons almost perpendicular to the surface, with the corresponding photon frequency matching the mass of the hidden photons.
