Search for new phenomena in two-body invariant mass distributions using unsupervised machine learning for anomaly detection at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector / Cheng, Chi Lung (Wisconsin U., Madison) /ATLAS Collaboration
Searches for new resonances in two-body invariant masses are performed using an unsupervised anomaly detection technique in events produced in collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. An autoencoder network is trained with 1% randomly selected collision events. [...]

Luminosity determination in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV using the ATLAS detector at the LHC / ATLAS Collaboration
The luminosity determination for the ATLAS detector at the LHC during Run 2 is presented, with $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV. The absolute luminosity scale is determined using van der Meer beam separation scans during dedicated running periods in each year, and extrapolated to the physics data-taking regime using complementary measurements from several luminosity-sensitive detectors. [...]

Search for lepton-flavor-violation in $Z$-boson decays with $\tau$-leptons with the ATLAS detector / ATLAS Collaboration
A search for lepton-flavor-violating $Z\rightarrow e\tau$ and $Z\rightarrow\mu\tau$ decays with $pp$ collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC is presented. This analysis uses 139 fb$^{-1}$ of Run 2 $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV and is combined with the results of a similar ATLAS search in the final state in which the $\tau$-lepton decays hadronically, using the same data set as well as Run 1 data. Performance of the ATLAS Level-1 topological trigger in Run 2 / ATLAS Collaboration
During LHC Run 2 (2015-2018) the ATLAS Level-1 topological trigger allowed efficient data-taking by the ATLAS experiment at luminosities up to 2.1x10$^{34}$ cm$^{-2}$s$^{-1}$, which exceeds the design value by a factor of two. The system was installed in 2016 and operated in 2017 and 2018. [...]

Application of Quantum Machine Learning using the Quantum Kernel Algorithm on High Energy Physics Analysis at the LHC / Wu, Sau Lan (Wisconsin U., Madison) ; Sun, Shaojun (Wisconsin U., Madison) ; Guan, Wen (Wisconsin U., Madison) ; Zhou, Chen (Wisconsin U., Madison) ; Chan, Jay (Wisconsin U., Madison) ; Cheng, Chi Lung (Wisconsin U., Madison) ; Pham, Tuan (Wisconsin U., Madison) ; Qian, Yan (Wisconsin U., Madison) ; Wang, Alex Zeng (Wisconsin U., Madison) ; Zhang, Rui (Wisconsin U., Madison) et al.
Quantum machine learning could possibly become a valuable alternative to classical machine learning for applications in High Energy Physics by offering computational speed-ups. In this study, we employ a support vector machine with a quantum kernel estimator (QSVM-Kernel method) to a recent LHC flagship physics analysis: $t\bar{t}H$ (Higgs boson production in association with a top quark pair). A search for the decays of stopped long-lived particles at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV with the ATLAS detector / ATLAS Collaboration
A search for long-lived particles, which have come to rest within the ATLAS detector, is presented. The subsequent decays of these long-lived particles can produce high-momentum jets, resulting in large out-of-time energy deposits in the ATLAS calorimeters. [...]

Measurements of $W^+W^-+\ge 1$ jet production cross-sections in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV with the ATLAS detector / ATLAS Collaboration
Fiducial and differential measurements of $W^+W^-$ production in events with at least one hadronic jet are presented. These cross-section measurements are sensitive to the properties of electroweak-boson self-interactions and provide a test of perturbative quantum chromodynamics and the electroweak theory. [...]

A search for the Higgs boson decaying into a photon and a pair of electrons or muons with an invariant mass $m_{\ell\ell} < 30$ GeV is presented. The analysis is performed using 139 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton collision data, produced by the LHC at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV and collected by the ATLAS experiment. [...]

Emulating the impact of additional proton–proton interactions in the ATLAS simulation by presampling sets of inelastic Monte Carlo events / ATLAS Collaboration
The accurate simulation of additional interactions at the ATLAS experiment for the analysis of proton-proton collisions delivered by the Large Hadron Collider presents a significant challenge to the computing resources. During the LHC Run 2 (2015-2018) there were up to 70 inelastic interactions per bunch crossing, which need to be accounted for in Monte Carlo (MC) production. [...]
