Zagato Alfa Romeo Sports Car TZ3 Corsa

Alfa Romeo and Zagato finally revealed the highly anticipated TZ3 Corsa at the Concours d’Elegance Villa D’Este, and boy is it special. Every line in this car’s gorgeous body is drawn with Alfa’s 100 years of heritage in mind, it screams passion! This priceless one-off is a racing car inspired by the early TZ models and features mono shell carbon fibre tubular chassis, coupled with a tubular frame and a lightweight aluminium body. It’s commissioned by German collector Martin Kapp, and he is now officially the world’s coolest man!
Zagato Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa
The Zagato-penned and developed Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa, which has been rumored for a while, was rolled out in a world premiere at this past weekend’s esteemed Villa D’Este Concours. And please be aware that this is not a show pony. Zagato pointed out, the Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa is not simply a design exercise, but a one off race special commissioned by German collector Martin Kapp.
The Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa was inspired by its 1960s ancestors, the first Alfa TZ and TZ2, the TZ3 Corsa. The current iteration is based on a mono shell carbon fiber tubular chassis (whatever that might be), joined with a tubular frame and a drop dead gorgeous lightweight aluminum body. It’s proportions are just spot on perfect, and the rear has a certain Kamm tail/GTO breadvan look to it.
Power comes from the Alfa 8c Competizione's  4.2-liter V8 engine. Situated under the alloy hood of the Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa, said mill develops 420-horsepower. Zagato says the racing car tips the scales at a lightweight 850kg or 1,874 lbs. Combine that little weight with that much engine, and the Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa is capable of accelerating from zero to 100km/h (62mph) in under 3.5 seconds topping out in excess of 300km/h or 187mph. Or so says Zagato.

The Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa by Zagato is not a design exercise, nor does it take inspiration from the 90 years of collaboration between Zagato and Alfa. The TZ3 Corsa race-car is basically a gift from Zagato to Alfa Romeo honoring 100 years of races and victories across the whole 20th century.
The TZ3 Corsa weighs in at only 1,870 pounds and is powered by a 4.2L dry sump V8 engine making 420-hp. Mated to a 6-speed sequential gearbox. the TZ3 Corsa goes from 0-62 mph in less than 3.5 seconds with a top speed of more than 185 mph.
Tribute to the 100th anniversary of Alfa Romeo’s Racing Heritage:
Alfa Romeo and Zagato achieved the best results since the beginnings thanks to the Mille Miglia victories of the 1500 6C, the 1750 GS and the 8C 2300 Zagato of the Scuderia Ferrari. Already in 1933 an official advert of the Alfa Romeo 8C proclaimed: “The Spider that, with the trio Alfa Romeo – Scuderia Ferrari – Carrozzeria Zagato, brought countless victories in the homeland and abroad for the honour of Italy.”
Even the grandiose Quadrifoglio Verde was placed on the bodies of Zagatos of the Alfa Corse team numerous times. Among the most glorious moments is the victory of the Formula 1 championship of Juan Manuel Fangio, aboard his Alfa Romeo 159 bodied by Zagato, as well as the victorious Alfa Romeo 3000 CM bodied in 3 samples by Zagato.
During the 60’s, the list of absolute victories of the Giulia TZ and TZ2 by Zagato for the Autodelta of Ing. Carlo Chiti, was never-ending. Some of the most memorable victories included the 1964 12 hours of Sebring, the Targa Florio, the Nurburgring, and the 24 hours of Le Mans.
The single-brand Alfa Romeo S.Z. championship emphasized the Alfa Romeo ES30’s (Experimental SportsCar 3000) technical and dynamic abilities. The S.Z. delivered, and continues to so today, constant performance and driving pleasure to the Gentlemen drivers of the Alfa Zagato team, across the most important racetracks in Europe.

2010 Pininfarina Alfa Romeo Sports Car Spider Concept

Pininfarina, an Italian car design studio, has released to the public the teaser image of their new Alfa Romeo concept. Pininfarina turns 80 years-old this year. As part of celebrating this important milestone the company will unveil this two-seater spider concept pictured here at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show in March. It will be presented as a tribute to its long relationship with Alfa Romeo. The unveiling coincides with Alfa's 100th anniversary so it is doubly fitting. The design has been managed by Lowie Vermeersch, head of Pininfarina’s style centre, and the rear reflects the old Alfa Romeo Duetto model, with its cuttlefish-bone inspiration.
2010 Pininfarina Alfa Romeo Spider Concept
A revival of the Alfa Duetto is an exciting proposition, and the prototype will be the same two-seater Spider vehicle. It will have a longitudinal engine placed in the front and rear-wheel drive. No production plan has been established as yet, so we can’t say if this could be an eventual replacement to the current Alfa Spider.
2010 Pininfarina Alfa Romeo Spider Concept
Apart from the obvious not much else is said or revealed about the car. But from this solitary sketch it can be noted that the current 8C Spider has some serious styling competition. The long sloping bonnet, two-door configuration and short rear overhangs are the main signs of a classic roadster. Whether this traditionalist approach will be kept intact with a soft folding roof remains to be seen.

Perhaps the Pininfarina/Alfa Romeo relationship is about to receive a new life. Hopefully the concept is as good, or even better than this sketch suggests.

2010 Alfa Romeo Sports Car Bertone Pandion Concept

Bertone returns to the Geneva Motor Show 2010, after a two year absence from the international scene, unveiling a concept car that makes its world premiere here: the Pandion, an aggressive yet beautiful coupé designed as a tribute to Alfa Romeos’ one hundred year anniversary. The Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept: an extreme and controversial sports car in typical Bertone fashion. The size of the concept car (4620 mm in length, 1971 mm wide, 1230 mm high, 2850 mm wheelbase) offers a compact sports car external dimensions with a large sports car interior feeling. Bertone Pandion Design Sketchoffers a compact sports car external dimensions with a large sports car interior feeling, all powered by a 4.7 litre, 450 CV 8-cylinder Alfa Romeo engine.
2010 Alfa Romeo Sports Car Bertone Pandion Concept
The name comes from the animal world, as Pandion Haliaetus is the scientific name for an Osprey: a sea hawk that nests and lives in coastal areas. The designers, led by Mike Robinson, have drawn inspiration from the wings of this predator to invent the spectacular door opening mechanisms, and from the hawks' facial markings to project the traditional Alfa family feeling into the next era of design.
2010 Alfa Romeo Sports Car Bertone Pandion Concept
The designers, led by Mike Robinson, have drawn inspiration from the wings of this predator to invent the spectacular door opening mechanisms, and from the hawks’ facial markings to project the traditional Alfa family feeling into the next era of design. In almost a century of Bertone tradition, it is not the first time that natural wonders have inspired the names of concept cars. Just think of the Corvair Testudo (1963) and, by no coincidence, the Alfa Romeo Canguro (1964), Carabo (1968) and Delfino (1983).
2010 Alfa Romeo Sports Car Bertone Pandion Concept
The Pandion’s taut and muscular body is the result of an original interpretation of the Alfa Romeo badge, where the man-eating snake depicted there represents the attraction of elegance (what we call the ‘Skin’), and the aristocratic cross symbolises the rigour of rational thought, the technological aspect (what we call the ‘Frame’).
2010 Alfa Romeo Sports Car Bertone Pandion Concept
According to this interpretation, the Pandion’s design is, like every Alfa Romeo, a perfect synthesis between ‘Skin and Frame’, an ideal balance resulting from a tension between opposites: technology and sensuality, rationality and instinct, architecture and sculpture, structuralism and organicism, industrial excellence and excellent craftsmanship.
2010 Alfa Romeo Sports Car Bertone Pandion Concept
The design of the Pandion is based on a concept Robinson calls: "Skin & Frame” - a new interpretation of the inherent duality in the 100 year old Alfa Romeo logo. “Skin” refers to the snake in the logo, representing the world renowned Italian excellence in beautiful, seductive forms; and “Frame” refers to the cross in the logo, representing the mechanical excellence in high performance Italian race cars. The combination of the two has now become a dynamic dial searching for an ideal balance resulting from the tension between opposites: technology and sensuality, rational and emotional, architectural layout and sculptural form, structural and organic, industrial excellence and artisan excellence.
2010 Alfa Romeo Sports Car Bertone Pandion Concept
According to this interpretation, the vibrant energy in every Alfa Romeo is represented by Pandions’ spinal structure (or ‘Frame’), which crosses the length of the car from the V-shaped grille in the nose of the car to the V-shaped bumper in the tail of the car, crossing the interior as a visually aesthetic structural element which supports the surrounding shell (or ‘Skin’).
2010 Alfa Romeo Sports Car Bertone Pandion Concept
The Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept has the profile of a true sports car, with no room for compromise. The architectural layout is 'cab rearward', meaning the passenger compartment is positioned towards the rear of the car and the long bonnet pushes the car's visual centre rearward. The body side visually connects the sensuous front end with the razor-edged rear by means of an extremely long flowing side window which stretches from front wheel arch to rear, enhancing the excellent accessibility of this low-bodied sports coupé.
2010 Alfa Romeo Sports Car Bertone Pandion Concept
Since sports cars are traditionally difficult to get in and out of, this important ergonomic activity has been facilitated with an extra wide door opening to make up for the low roofline. This new graphic formula not only adds a striking new visual division between the upper and lower parts of the body, but it also offers an incredible panorama window for passengers inside. The strong diagonal dark-light division in the rear of the side view accentuates the powerful rear wheel drive layout and draws special attention to the hidden door opening mechanism.

2011 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sports Car Has Brand-New Architecture

2011 Alfa Romeo Giulietta

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta is expected to give new impetus to the brand in one of Europe's most important segments. Giulietta is a car that, in the fifties, caught the imagination of generations of car enthusiasts, making the dream of owning an Alfa Romeo and enjoying the high level of comfort and technical excellence accessible for the first time. The Alfa Romeo Style Centre has produced a new Alfa Romeo Giulietta, a sports car capable of expressing both great agility on the most demanding routes and providing comfort on everyday roads.
2011 Alfa Romeo Giulietta

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta has brand-new architecture, designed to meet the expectations of the most demanding customers in terms of road holding, agility and safety. Its excellent dynamic performance and great comfort are the result of refined technical solutions implemented in the suspensions, a next-generation steering system, a rigid yet light structure made of aluminium and high-strength steel, and state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies.
Combining sportiness and elegance, the Alfa Giulietta is the result of Alfa Romeo's new direction in style and technology - an approach that started with the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione supercar and which recalls the brand's glorious past while projecting its traditional values of technology and emotion into the future.
2011 Alfa Romeo Giulietta

The profile of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta is rich in personality and confers the appearance of an agile, solid model. This is above all the result of the coupé shaped side windows, which highlight dynamic and streamlined shape, and of the concealed rear handles. The side ribbing adds to the car's slender look, while the taut lines closing in on the rear end accentuate the "wedge" shape of the body.
The interior design is taut and light: a horizontally developed dashboard with aluminium element accents and rocker controls which explicitly recall the 8C Competizione. Painstaking attention to detail and the high quality of the materials used are the most advanced expression of Italian style.
2011 Alfa Romeo Giulietta

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta guarantees top level performance and next-generation technology in terms of technical solutions, performance and environmental friendliness. Four Turbo engines will be available at launch, all Euro 5 compliant and fitted with a standard "Start&Stop" system for reducing consumption and emissions: two petrol engines (1.4TB - 120 HP and 1.4TB MultiAir - 170 HP) and two diesel engines (1.6 JTDM - 105 HP and 2.0 JTDM - 170 HP, both belonging to the second generation of JTDM engines). Finally, the range is completed with the lively 1750 TBi - 235 HP with an exclusive Quadrifoglio Verde configuration.
2011 Alfa Romeo Giulietta

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta is fitted with the most sophisticated electronic devices for dynamic control as standard: VDC, DST, Q2 electronic differential and Alfa DNA selector. All these systems guarantee driving safety, dynamism and performance in the best Alfa Romeo tradition.

8c Competizione Alfa Romeo Maserati V8 engine Sports Car

8c Competizione Alfa Romeo

Designed and developed at the Alfa Romeo Style Centre, the 8c Competizione prototype pays homage to road racing Alfa's of the 30s and 40s which bore the 8c signature, while 'Competizione' refers to the 6C 2500 Competizione, a car driven by Fangio and Zanardi in the Mille Miglia race of 1950. 8c Competizione Alfa Romeo

The Alfa 8c is a retro design powered by a Maserati V8 engine
Alfa Romeo are well known for producing flamboyant and beautifully styled cars, sometimes overlooking reliability. The 8c Competizione concept takes this philosophy to another level, and is one of the most stunning designs to come from the Italian manufacturer.

The flowing graceful lines of the 8c Competizione are a trait shared with another Alfa concept, the Nuvola. Both cars are inspired and shaped by Alfa Romeo models of the past, and their aesthetic design reflects this retro influence.

2009 MiTo GTA Alfa Romeo Turbocharged

2009 MiTo GTA Alfa Romeo Turbocharged

Visually the MiTo GTA stands out from the standard car with its deeper and wider front grille, redesigned front bumper and repositioned Alfa Romeo badge which now sits just above the trademark triangular grille. In profile the sideskirts which help connect the new lower front and rear sections of the MiTo GTA are obvious, as are the Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione inspired air vents integrated into the body panels just behind the front wheel arches. At the rear a massive diffuser houses the twin round tailpipes while also helping to provide additional downforce.
The Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA is a performance version of the standard MiTo hatchback which features enhancements to the drivetrain, chassis and bodywork.
Powering the Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA is a turbocharged, 1.8 litre, 4 cylinder engine with variable valve timing which develops a very healthy 240 horsepower. The engine is also designed to work with the Alfa D.N.A. system which allows the driver to select the driving mode and adjust the performance to suit driving styles and conditions.
As well as creating a very stiff chassis for the MiTo GTA, the engineers completely revised the suspension, lowering it by about 20 mm. The steering is more direct, precise and sensitive, allowing the driver to obtain maximum feedback. The steering can be personalized by selecting different positions using the Alfa D.N.A. system to suit driver preferences.
