Connecting to Autodoor fails after selecting door colour

If you see an error message in the app after selecting the colour of your Smart Autodoor, this may indicate your control panel was unable to contact our server to complete the provisioning process. Please check that the wireless network you connected the control panel to has a functioning internet connection, and no settings are in place that prevent the control panel from connecting out to our server.

Some parental control or network restriction settings can interfere with the ability of the control panel to contact our systems. If you have any such settings in place, you could try turning them off temporarily to see if this resolves the issue. In many cases such systems will have an allow list which you can add the control panel to to prevent any future problems.

How long do the batteries last, and when should I change them?

4 good quality AA batteries of the same brand, same type and same energy level should power the Autodoor for 2+ months. If you’re not using the smart functionality, and the control panel is not connected to wifi, then we estimate you should see around 6 months of battery life.

We would suggest changing the batteries when the control panel is showing the level as 5% or lower. It’s good to check the batteries at least every month to make sure they are in good condition.

How can I power my Autodoor?

We recommend powering your Smart Autodoor via the included mains power adaptor for the best experience. You can power the Smart Autodoor with batteries if you wish, we estimate you will get 2+ months of battery life with a set of good quality AA batteries. If you connect your Autodoor to a solar panel or any other type of power source, we will not be able to offer any warranty (expressed or implied), support or advice.

Can I use it with chicks?

The Autodoor is designed to be used by adult chickens, and it’s wise to only use manual mode if you have chicks in the flock.

How do I download the app?

The Omlet App is available in the Google Play store for Android users, and the App Store for iOS users. Simply open the relevant app store, and search for “Omlet”, or use the following links: iOS App Store – Google Play

Why does my Smart Autodoor not open when I think it should on light mode?

To prevent the door from opening unintentionally in response to torches, headlights, security lights and so on, the light level detected must remain above the level set for opening for 15 minutes before the door will open.

In the mornings you may notice in the Omlet App that the current light level reading is reported at a level higher than the level set to open the door, but the door is still closed. This is completely normal. Wait for 15 minutes, and you should see that the door has opened within that time.

Can I fit the Autodoor on my Eglu Go, Go Up or Classic?

Unfortunately, the Autodoor is not compatible with our Eglu Go, Go Up or Classic coops. However, the versatility of the frame and door design allows you to fit the Autodoor to any kind of chicken run.

Can I change the notification settings?

Tap on the notification bell at the top of the home screen. From here select notifications. You can then choose your general notification settings as well as individual settings for each type of notification.

How do I move a device to a different coop?

You can move a device to a different coop by selecting the Settings icon on the top right of the device. You should then select “Device Details. You can then change the “Assigned to:” to the correct coop.

How do I update the Omlet Autodoor Firmware?

If your Omlet Autodoor is connected to wifi then it will check for updates automatically once per day. If you would like to update it manually then click on the device settings icon, click on Firmware and then click “Firmware Update”.

If your Omlet Autodoor is not connected to wifi, then you will need to connect it for it to be able to receive updates. See our guide here

How do I perform a factory reset on my Omlet Autodoor?

Scroll down in the menu of the Control Panel until you get to “Factory Reset”.
Press and hold the “OK”-button until the screen changes to “Are You Sure” and a flashing “N”.
Change the flashing “N” (for no) to “Y” (for yes) by using the arrow buttons.
Hold OK-button until the screen changes.

Can I fit my Omlet Autodoor vertically?

No, the motor in the door is designed to open the door horizontally. It is also important to note that the crush detector won’t work properly when mounted vertically as chickens could sit on it and thereby activate it the whole time which would prevent the door from attempting to close.
