Welcome to my website!
I am an Assistant Professor in Economics (with tenure) at Trinity College Dublin, a Research Affiliate at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), and a Research Associate at the Centre for the Study of African Economies at the University of Oxford. I am a theme leader for the Structural Transformation and Economic Growth (STEG) research initiative. I am currently Director of the MSc in Economics. Previously, I was an Earth Institute Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Columbia University. I received my DPhil in Economics from the University of Oxford in 2014.
I am a development economist with a particular interest in using micro data to answer macro questions in the areas of urbanization, infrastructure, the construction sector, labor markets, and spatial mobility. I use big data, such as mobile phone and smartphone app data, to understand the effects of large infrastructure investments and spatial frictions. In recent work I examine the role of distortions in the investment sector for capital accumulation. I am also involved in two ongoing randomized controlled trials with large-scale construction firms.
