The Detroit metropolitan area, often referred to as Metro Detroit, is a major metropolitan area in the U.S. State of Michigan, consisting of the city of Detroit and its surrounding area.

The metropolitan statistical area covers 6 counties: Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, St. Clair, and Wayne. The Detroit urban area covers parts of the counties of Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne.[1]
