During the pandemic, Sunday School activities have challenges: Sunday school teachers are not fam... more During the pandemic, Sunday School activities have challenges: Sunday school teachers are not familiar with technology, children are not used to technology and online meetings. This research was conducted by simple random sampling in several churches in East Java in the Middle class. The total population is 60 children, and the sample taken is 52 children. Data analysis measures the relationship between variables using a correlation test and the magnitude of the influence between variables. This study shows that a teacher can start the Sunday school activities with asynchronous learning during the pandemic using YouTube and WhatsApp media combined with engaged learning strategies that can make children feel involved.

Problem-solving is an alternative learning strategy which is considered more effective and effici... more Problem-solving is an alternative learning strategy which is considered more effective and efficient for students engaged in the learning of Biology. This strategy has a couple of strengths in the teaching –learning process in which it makes the school learning more relevant to life and actively engages students in the learning process. This study aimed at testing the effects of the problem-solving strategy on students' learning outcome. It also aimed at testing if there was any effect of the achievement motivation on students' learning outcome. Furthermore, this study was intended to test if instructional strategy interacted with the achievement motivation on students' learning outcome. This study employed the factorial non-equivalent control group design in which109 ten grade students in the science program of Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri 9 Malang were used as the subject of the study. Based on the data analysis, the conclusion of the study result was as follows: (1) there was discrepancy in the score acquired by the group receiving problem-solving (PS) and the other group instructed in direct instruction (DI). The use of problem-solving strategy was significantly better than direct instruction that yielded a significant value of (F=6.943; p=0.010); (2) the score discrepancy was noticeable between students with high achieving motivation and students with low achieving motivation. Students' motivation, either high or low impacted on the learning outcome indicated by the significant value of (F=10.999; p=0.001); (3) There was no difference in the score representing the interaction between students instructed in problem solving (PS) and students taught in direct instruction (DI) based on the high or low extent of motivation students had that was indicated by the significant value of (F= 0.010; p=0.922). Ho was then accepted and it was concluded that there was not a significant difference in the average score of the interaction between the instructional strategies and the extent of achievement. In other words, the effect of the interaction between the instructional strategies and the extent of the achievement on the average score of students' learning outcome was not evidently different. INTRODUCTION The advance of science and technology constantly demands human adjustment to the changes resulted by conducting a wide range of innovations in every aspect including the education. The developments are progressively made in terms of the theories and concepts that they are increasingly effective and appropriate to come up with a quality modern learning.Shambaugh & Magliaro (2006) argued that the current learning process consists of five elements, namely: (1) organizing knowledge in memory, (2) solving problems, (3) developing learners, (4) learning how to learn, dan (5) living and learning in the world. The concept implies that learning should by all means result in a capacity to resolve problems and be aimed at the interest of living in the future instead of meeting the school interest. One of the cases found by Malik (2010) concerning the learning of science is that many students taught in traditional manner acquired a science concept for mastery as it is rather than for knowing how to apply it in such a way that it might benefit them in a real life setting. Motivasi ARCS adalah motivasi yang beracuan kepada empat kategori, attention, relevance, confidence, satisfaction. Kelebihan motivasi ARCS adalah menggunakan pendekatan pembelajaran yang sistematis dan komprehensif dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan daya tarik pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian ini memiliki nilai Kolmogorof Pretest 0.200 > 0.05 dan Posttest 0.053 > 0.05. Nilai korelasi menunjukkan nilai sig. 2 tailed pretest dan posttest 0.02 < 0.05, artinya menunjukkan ada hubungan yang positif antara pretest dan posttest. Nilai regresi linier menunjukkan nilai 0.02<0.05 hal ini terbukti ada pengaruh pemberian motivasi ARCS pada pembelajaran ini Kata kunci : pretes, postest, motivasi ARCS ABSTRACT Motivation is the force and guide the behavior of students in trying and working hard to achieve goals. ARCS motivation is motivation that refers to four categories, attention, relevance, confidence, satisfaction. The advantage of ARCS motivation is that it uses a systematic and comprehensive learning approach with the aim of increasing the attractiveness of learning. The results of this study have a Kolmogorof Pretest value of 0.200> 0.05 and Posttest 0.053> 0.05. Correlation value shows the value of sig. 2 tailed pretest and posttest 0.02 <0.05, meaning that there is a positive relationship between pretest and posttest. The linear regression value shows the value of 0.02 <0.05, it is proven that there is an influence of ARCS motivation in this learning

Model motivasi ARCS dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif dalam meningkatkan efektifitas pembelajar... more Model motivasi ARCS dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif dalam meningkatkan efektifitas pembelajaran, karena model ini memiliki beberapa kelebihan dapat menghubungkan pembelajaran di sekolah dengan kehidupan siswa, di samping itu, siswa aktif terlibat dalam proses pembelajaran karena keingintahuannya muncul dari dalam diri sendiri ditunjang oleh desain motivasi belajar model ARCS. Hal tersebut dibuktikan oleh beberapa penelitian yang menemukan bahwa model motivasi belajar ARCS memengaruhi hasil belajar siswa. Oleh sebab itu penggunaan motivasi belajar model ARCS dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Rancangan penelitian ini pre-experimental One Shoot Case Study (Creswell, 2010). Peneliti menggunakan kelompok utuh (intact group) dengan jumlah sampel seluruh siswa kelas XI SMA CHARIS Malang sejumlah 48 siswa. Berdasarkan analisis data, hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan ada hubungan yang signifikan antara penggunaan model motivasi belajar ARCS terhadap nilai afektif siswa, dengan signifikan sebesar 37.4%: R2 = 0.374; ᵦ = 0.611; p<0.01.

Learning in Indonesia according to Susanti (2014) has begun to shift from traditional way (teacher-centered) to a more modern, creative, and communicative way (student centered and the use of technology). This way of learning needs to be fostered and enhanced toward the accomplishment of the national ideal namely, developing the nation's intellectual life as well as equipping students for their futures. CARCS Instructional Strategy is a modified form of ARCS model developed by Keller (1983). The learning process in the ARCS model encompasses Attention, Relevance, Confidence, Satisfaction. The Attention is aimed at getting students' curiosity whetted that teachers need to utilize various strategies in teaching. Relevance is oriented toward the future that teachers should make use of the problems happening around them. Confidence encourages students to confidently gain success in all learnings catered to their needs and teachers should work on that in every learning activity. Satisfaction is intended to provide a sense of fulfillment of taking part in the learning. Based on the humanistic theory of Maslow (1943) ARCS instructional model needs to include Caring as the underpinning factor. The lack of caring on the part of teachers in their socio cultural context is the major concern which is a point of consideration in developing this model. This CARCS model is expected to have a positive impact on students' learning that they may achieve optimum result.

Essential changes are to be made in the learning to that students are better equipped in facing the globalization. Learning today requires technology to use one of which is the media of google classroom to help students learn independently and afford teachers time for effective planning and preparation. Traditional classroom is developing into one utilizing technology in which time is not a limiting factor in students' learning and students' freedom are made possible to consult the learning materials for frequent review. Learning to meet students' purpose and desire will increase students' learning motivation and the use of technology to help students with their learning process will enhance the cognitive learning result and whet students' curiosity in learning. Background Entering the 21 st century, there are many perspectives which require refinement and changes to be made in terms of education to keep up with the demands of the age and empower learners.
