The Welcome Barrel

Proprieter Judy McKinney planted daffodils, pansies, cabbages and strawberries
in a barrel to welcome folks to the Orrville Farmers' Market.
The business sells seeds and plants, produce and gifts.
Her future plans include a kitchen/cannery for classes in canning,
 breadmaking, soapmaking and more.

Down by an Old Homestead

Except for a flock of daffodils and narcissus, it's hard to imagine
that anyone ever lived here. But despite a broken house
and broken trees, the flowers just keep on keeping on!

Thanks to guest photographer Doug Gresham.

 of winter this morning!

So despite a cold wind and predicted deep freeze tonight in Selma,
 it must be Spring!

Daffodil Debut

are usually the first to shoot up from the brown ground.
Now, if the weather will just stay warm enough to keep them around!

Flirting with Spring

Those brave, brave daffodils! Every February, they flirt with Spring only to have Old Man Winter come along and break their hearts!

Tonight's forecast: A mix of rain and snow. No accumulation, thank goodness!

Flower Thaw

Daffodils that have bloomed since January bowed their heads Sunday in surrender to a slushy cover of snow. When temperatures rose, they shed tears of joy!

Tenant House Daffodils

Clumps of daffodils are perennial reminders of tenant houses that once dotted the landscape of Dallas County. Today, most of these simple wooden structures are going or long gone. Here, the tin roof of a tenant house porch has fallen across the front porch.
