The Hercules Knot Ring. Ꜹ, 3.8 g, circa 1st century AD. This beautifully intricate ring is called a knot of Hercules or marriage knot. It is a strong knot created by two intertwined ropes of gold. It originated as a healing charm in ancient Egypt, however is it best known from Greece and Rome as a protective amulet, most notably as a wedding symbol. Extremely fine.
