the structure of an organ labeled in red and yellow, including filament, glomenius, reabopion, filthation, and diaman's capsules

Glomerular filtration: shown is the bowmans capsule (yellow) and the glomerulus (red). This structure serves as a filtration mechanism before reaching the proximal convoluted tubule of the nephron. In order to pass, fluids must go through 3 layers: the fenestrated endothelium, the basement membrane, and filtration slits. Based upon size, molecules greater than 8nm are too large to pass. Therefore only molecules such as glucose, water, electrolytes, amino acids, nitrogenous waste can pass.

the structure of an animal's body and its structures, including cell membranes

Numerous kidney diseases are characterized by a breakdown of the glomerular filtration barrier, which forms the interface between the blood and urine. In this Review, Daehn and Duffield discuss strategies to target components of this barrier, focusing on mechanisms to control mitochondrial function and the actin–myosin machinery, to improve kidney function in individuals with kidney diseases.

Learning Objectives Define Forces in the renal corpuscle that contribute to net filtration Pressure (equation). Understand the consequences of alterations in these forces on the net filtration pressure. Define glomerular filtration rate(GFR), filtration fraction, renal blood flow and renal plasma flow and understand how they relate to GFR. Describe renal Autoregulation of GFR. Describe neural and hormonal regulation of GFR.

the anatomy of an animal's stomach and its major structures are shown in this diagram

Juxtaglomerular apparatus is located at the vascular pole of each glomerulus where the afferent and efferent arterioles come in close contact with the initial part of the distal convoluted tubule. It is made up of tubular and vascular elements of the nephron which interact to control the systemic blood pressure and the rate of glomerular filtration (and hence the rate of urine formation).
