Stem Stitch - Learn How to Do This Modern Embroidery Technique – Clever Poppy Stem Stitch Embroidery, Embroidery Stem Stitch, Clever Poppy, Stem Stitch, Learn Embroidery, Running Stitch, Modern Embroidery, Straight Stitch, Back Stitch

Stem stitch is a really lovely option if you're wanting to do lines or curves, as it creates this really nice, consistent line. It has a bit of a ropey look. It's beautiful, funnily enough, on the stems of plants. It also works really well if you're doing quite tight curves.

1.	Whipped Back Stitch:
🧵Back Stitch Base: Start by creating a simple back stitch along the line where you want your stem.
🧵Whipping the Stitches: Once the back stitch base is complete, bring your needle up at the start of the line and, without piercing the fabric, thread it under each back stitch, spiraling around them. This gives the appearance of a twisted rope.
	🧵Stem Stitch:
	•	Starting the Stitch: Bring your needle up through the fabric at the starting point (A). Make a small stitch by bringing the needle down a short distance away (B) and then bring it up again midway between A and B and repeat the process as shown.
This creates a slightly slanted line that mimics the look of a natural stem.
