RCNi is a life-long learning partner for nurses, nursing students and nursing associates, providing print and digital resources for CPD and revalidation
RCNi offers nurses a wide-range of digital and print learning resources as part of a subscription to RCNi Plus, including peer-reviewed clinical articles from our ten nursing journals, CPD learning modules from RCNi Learning, and the RCNi Portfolio to log practice and continuing professional development (CPD) for the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) revalidation requirements.
We continuously improve and add to our range of digital products so that we can provide registered nurses with the resources they need to develop throughout their careers, support nursing students with their degree and help nursing associates find the online learning they need to increase their skills at a time that suits them.
With more than 30 years at the forefront of nursing education, and as part of the Royal College of Nursing Group, we are a trusted provider of CPD learning resources for nurses that are peer-reviewed and champion best practice.
Our journals
RCNi produces ten nursing journals that provide nurses, nursing students and nursing associates with information on changes in policy, best practice and research, news affecting the nursing profession, and peer-reviewed clinical and CPD articles to further their practice.
Nursing Standard was launched in 1987 and over the past 35-years has grown to be the UK’s leading nursing journal, covering a broad range of topics to support nurses in delivering excellent patient care.
RCNi also produces nine specialist nursing journals that provide in-depth coverage of nursing specialties, including peer-reviewed clinical and continuing professional development articles.

RCNi Learning is an interactive online learning platform, featuring over 170 evidence-based learning modules, designed to support registered nurses with their clinical practice, and help student nurses and nursing associates bridge the gap between theory and best practice. When a module is completed, nurses are awarded a CPD certificate for revalidation and have the option to write a reflective account about their learning that can be added directly into their RCNi Portfolio along with the certificate of learning.
The dedicated app allows users to access RCNi Learning via a smartphone or tablet so they can improve their skills whenever and wherever is most convenient, promoting effective education outcomes and improving patient care.
RCNi Learning forms part of the RCNi Plus subscription that gives subscribers access all ten of RCNi’s nursing journals, our learning modules and the RCNi Portfolio.
The RCNi Portfolio is an online revalidation tool designed specifically to help nurses navigate and comply with the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s (NMC) requirements for revalidation.
It simplifies the revalidation process by allowing nurses to log information over the course of three years in one easy-to-access, dedicated digital
space. A colour coded system shows nurses at a glance how close they are to meeting the NMC’s revalidation requirements by calculating practice hours; logging time spent on continuing professional development; and providing an area to write and record reflective accounts, organise CPD evidence, and upload documents, such as staff appraisals and CPD certificates.
Every RCNi CPD article includes an online multiple-choice quiz with a CPD certificate upon completion that can be stored automatically in your RCNi Portfolio along with the time spent on the CPD activity. By linking the RCNi Portfolio with our digital content, the process of collating evidence for revalidation is quicker and easier for nurses to manage in their busy schedules.
