performance é parte essencial do processo criativo.
cinético-sonora de Alejandro Ahmed e Grupo Cena 11;

The project welcomes its fifth edition with
a bigger program, bringing to the CCBB São Paulo
works by artists from different Brazilian states,
as well as one international artist, in which
performance is an essential part of the creative
process. As such, the CCBB Música.Performance |
Special Edition expands its format, presenting
performance in different situations but without
losing its essence, that of a happening that grows
from the interaction between music, performance,
and people.
The source of inspiration for the content that
makes up the Special Edition was the solo album
Hopelessness by composer, singer, and performer
Anohni, whose lyrics demonstrate an openly
political point of view, evoking themes such as
surveillance, military drones, capital punishment,
and environmental crisis.
To give substance to this state of mind, the
CCBB Música.Performance | Special Edition presents
a new exhibition by Berna Reale; a sono-cinematic
installation from Alejandro Ahmed and Grupo Cena 11;

vem sentindo na pele. Como é comum, a maioria naturaliza a violência;

Protection Program. She’s a professional who
is proud of what she does, demonstrated by her
acute compassion for those who go unseen,
those who are decimated in silence, the misfit
crew and passengers of the ships that were
once lost at sea and that today are stranded
within our urban sprawls, for everyone to see,
but far from the interest of the media who
prefer the foreign, destitute dead.
By art industry standards, Berna Reale started her career late in life.
Recognition on a national level came after she was selected for the Itaú
Cultural Rumos Visuais Project, in 2012/2013. From then until her presence
at the Venice Biennale in 2015 as one of the Brazilian representatives, her
career has reached astronomical heights, something that means very
little to her. In fact, she’s still working on those same dead bodies while
the country cynically carries on its ever-growing list of atrocities, the
fruit of the high and chronic corruption that rots it from within.
Throughout all the horrors that Berna Reale brings to her audience’s
attention, the woman, the artist herself, is always the protagonist; and
pink, at least in this exhibition, is the recurring symbol. It’s the respon-
sibility of the woman, the center of fertility, to convey not only the joy of
life but also death, which she does as she journeys through cities, walking
by garbage dumps, wading through the canals oblivious to what goes on
above their waters; much like in the two recent films where, among the
oblivious men absorbed by their rude chores in the dense environments
of the tannery and the ice factory, she unravels between piles of skin (Em
pelo) a tragic dance or dwells on the white mountain of crushed ice (Frio),

entrevista entre
Lia Vissotto e
Berna Reale
composição do meu trabalho.
especial do projeto Música.
abandono, violência silenciosa, coisas que têm me cercado ulti-
mamente.
parte do projeto Música.
