Vincent van Gogh is my favorite artist among all. not only me, but to many other artists. It has been a long time since I wanted to start this portrait and I finally made it! It was hard to decide to follow his real photo or the self-portrait paintings, so I tried to mix both. As usual, everything is hand sculpted. The Albedo map is a mix of projection and hand paint. rendered in Arnold-Maya. and hair is done with X-gen. Wish you all the best. Cheers.

The Australian painter John Peter Russell got to know Vincent at Fernand Cormon’s studio. He painted this portrait of his friend in 1886 in a conventional, realistic style. It is clearly influenced by photography, although the face and the hand still show Impressionist touches. The portrait was not so dark originally. Another artist, Archibald Standish Hartrick, met Van Gogh at Russell’s studio. He later recalled: ‘[Russell] had just completed that portrait of him in a striped blue suit.’…
