In this regards, the article contains a theoretical approach of the key concepts and a practical approach referring to the major steps undertaken in order to adjust, at least locally, the "classical triangle" to the new rural paradigm.

clients’ wishes are recognized in order to permanently ensure the
quality of the tourism services. The questionnaire, as a statistic tool, is
frequently used especially at the level of important hotel chains, but it
also has an applicability to small-dimensioned accommodation
structures. In the current paper such a questionnaire is applied in Neamţ
County to “Buhalniţa Chalet” (Hangu commune), “Eden Boarding House”
(Agapia commune) and “Mariko Inn” Hotel (Cordun commune),
representative for the three different types of tourism practiced in each
area (Izvorul Muntelui Lake touristic sub-zone - ecotourism, Târgu-
Neamţ touristic zone - cultural-religious tourism and also Roman
touristic sub-zone - transit tourism). The case study analyzes the
satisfaction level of tourists who benefited from services offered by the
tourist structures mentioned above, thus offering important information
regarding the clients’ profile (from a social, ethnic, professional and
financial perspective) and also on other relevant elements necessary in
the process of improving the marketing strategy practiced by those
accommodation structures.

În special, pădurile virgine şi comunităţile izolate ale Carpaţilor României atrag anual aproximativ 3.000-4.000 cicloturişti străini şi sub 1.000 cicloturişti români. Aceştia sunt consideraţi turişti ecologişti dornici să exploreze ţinuturi sălbatice, să deguste gastronomia tradiţională, să participe activ la diverse evenimente culturale cu specific arhaic şi să convieţuiască în sânul comunităţilor fără a avea pretenţia de a consuma servicii specifice industriei turistice. De altfel, marele avantaj al cicloturiştilor, în spiritul dezvoltării durabile, este acela de a explora comunităţile izolate, care nu au acces la infrastructura turistică fără a-şi lăsa amprenta turistică asupra mediului natural şi vetrei săteşti. Prezentul articol analizează câteva trasee cicloturistice cartate prin GPS de pe raza judeţului Neamţ care tranzitează cele mai izolate comunităţi rurale.

The tourist area organization refers to the split of the large territory in relatively homogenous... more The tourist area organization refers to the split of the large territory in relatively homogenous areas from the perspective of the tourist potential and activities, by inventorying and analyzing all the components of the tourist potential: natural potential, anthropic potential, accommodation infrastructure and technical infrastructure. The assessment of the natural potential refers to the analyses of the natural environment, of the existing protected areas, and also of the therapy factors. The anthropic potential can be analyzed by identifying the historic monuments of national interest, the public museums and collections, arts and folk traditions, and also the shows and concerts institutions. The assessment of the accommodation infrastructure takes into account the analyses of the tourist units, the treatment and recreation structures, of the infrastructure necessary for organizing conferences, and also of the sky path and of the cable-transport installations, of the public transport and telecommunication infrastructure. In this study the author presents the tourist organization of the Neamt County by developing and updating the study carried out at national level by The Tourist Department during 2005-2007. The finality of the current study represents the drawing out of Neamt County' maps, on communes, which to highlight their evaluation from a natural and anthropic perspective, and also by taking into account their accommodation and technical infrastructure. According to their inventory, there have been identified the tourist area of Neamt County (Ceahlău-Bicaz, Piatra-Neamţ, Târgu-Neamţ, Cheile Bicazului-Hăşmaş), and also the new tourist sub-zones (Lacul Izvorul Muntelui, Valea Tarcăului, Valea Muntelui şi Roman).

devel... more The current paper analyses the way the short food supply chain can positively influence the
development of the rural tourism, with economic, social and environment benefits, as well as the
harmonious and sustainable development of the rural communities.
Numerous examples offered by the developed countries prove that, for the well-known rural
tourism destinations, the key of success can be ensured by the natural and cultural landscape of the
area, by the existence of a local gastronomic identity, by the collective involvement of rural
communities and of local authorities. Another important success factor is the development of local
short supply chains. The innovating character of these chains, as it is proved by numerous researchers
in the field, can bring a new flavor to the gastronomic activities within consecrated tourism areas.
The presented case study (Viscri village) is an example of sustainable development of rural
tourism and of local patrimony preservation, and at the same time a lesson to be learned by all the
dwellers of traditional Romanian houses.

Nowadays, one cannot talk about an authentic rural tourism within a certain destination without e... more Nowadays, one cannot talk about an authentic rural tourism within a certain destination without emphasizing the local cultural heritage (cultural landscape, customs and traditions, gastronomy and so on). In the existing context, the local gastronomy is perceived as a marketing instrument efficient in differentiating the rural touristic destinations. A special place in the development of the traditional cuisine is represented by the setting up and the promotion of the short food supply chains which can be achieved by sustaining the small local producers and by putting into practice an environment-friendly traditional agriculture. Sustaining the partnerships between the owners of accommodation units and the small local agricultural producers represents an essential element in putting into practice a sustainable and qualitative rural tourism. Romania has a substantial potential as regards the enhancement of short food supply chains thanks to: the large number of semi-subsistence agricultural farms (with an area under 5 hectares), the "village-town connection" as regards the food procurement, especially from acquaintances and relatives and the carrying on of a traditional agriculture at a large scale in the rural households.The case studies emphasized in the current paper (Harghita and Neamţ Counties) focus on the existence of short food supply chains, functional in the rural tourism sector under very different ways: touristic sheepfolds, trout farms, inns, authentic holiday villages, peasant guest houses etc.

Currently, short food supply chains represent a viable alternative to the conventional globalized... more Currently, short food supply chains represent a viable alternative to the conventional globalized supply chains, thus gradually becoming a more and more proeminent actor in the global logistics sector. The previously mentioned short food supply chains are in general extremely varied both in terms of nature and practices, benefiting producers as well as consumers from the socioeconomic , environmental and health improvement points of view. In most cases, short food supply chains effectively reconnect end consumers, especially the young generations, with local small agri-food producers, thus contributing to the process of educating and/or sometimes reeducating individuals about the importance of adopting a healthy diet. Romania holds, in this respect, a high potential for the development of short food supply chains due to a series of factors such as: the large number of small semi-subsistence agricultural holdings (under 5 hectares); the persistent historical rural-urban link, as evidenced by the methods of obtaining food and groceries; the growing number of local certified producers, and last but not least the great veriety of specialized shops. Moreover, short supply chains stand solid chances of development in the near future as a result of sizeable financial support provided by the 2014-2020 National Rural Development Programme, which includes special promotion and development measures for small farmers and the short food supply sector. The present case study, which is based on field research undertaken across the Harghita county, aims to provide evidence of the existence and viability of short food supply chains in the agri food sector. The study identifies new associative forms between local producers and traditional processors and suppliers (butcher`s, meat processors, bakers etc.), specialized shops (groceries, mobile food carts, milk vending machines, on-line shops etc.), as well as new methods of promoting local traditional cuisine (gastronomic routes, food markets, food festivals).

Food Commerce has turned into one of the most controversial economic battlefields in humankind hi... more Food Commerce has turned into one of the most controversial economic battlefields in humankind history, whilst the society of today is characterized by a single existential criterion, manifested from top to bottom: efficiency. Due to the distinctive features and functions of agriculture, the economic theory has a subtle approach of the efficiency concept in agriculture, compared to the other non-agricultural economic branches. There are two theoretical approaches on efficiency in agricultural production: the first has a general meaning, overlapping the hedonistic concept, while the second one has a rather singular meaning that senses the efficiency of agricultural production, related to the extent to which it assures population's food security. In other words, agriculture, through what it produces, is effective when able to provide the necessary food to its consumers, a food that meets all essential criteria: quality, quantity and diversity. The paper aims at developing a thorough analysis of the food offer produced by the agriculture and food industry and also at investigating the way in which the offer meets or does not meet consumers' demand, seen as increasingly concerned with the quality and origin of food.

Short food supply chains (SFSCs) are a viable alternative to conventional food supply chains, acc... more Short food supply chains (SFSCs) are a viable alternative to conventional food supply chains, accessible to small-scale farmers. SFSCs hold multiple benefits from the socioeconomic , cultural, environmental and health improvement points of view, meeting the farmers' need to reconnect to end-consumers. Firstly, SFSCs contribute to some extent to helping small-scale farmers and processors to sell their agri-food products. Secondly, SFSCs mostly meet the urban population's need to consume minimally processed, healthier and cheaper food. Located in central Romania, Mureș County, as a result of its soil, topographic and weather conditions, is well known for its wide array of agri-food products, ranging from cereals, industrial crops and medicinal plants to processed food products (bakery and pastry products, frozen/canned fruit and vegetables, sugar, beer, dairy and meat products). Due to its multicultural population, it can be noted that entrepreneurial activity is quite intense and widespread in Mureş County. According to the available statistical data for 2015 from the Harghita Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Agency, there were 2,000 registered animal and non-animal processing units, located mainly at the outskirts of the towns Târgu-Mureş, Reghin, Luduş, Târnăveni and Sighişoara. The paper highlights the role and economic activity of small-scale farmers, most of whom still use traditional processing, supplying and selling methods and techniques, specific to SFSCs: sales directly to consumers, on-farm sales, sales on farmers' markets, roadside sales, sales near tourism sites, sales occasioned by food festivals, their own retail outlets, butcher shops, meat processors, bakeries, groceries, milk vending machines, exhibition stands, mobile food carts and on-line shops.

At present, short food-supply chains (SFSCs) are an economically viable alternative to globalized... more At present, short food-supply chains (SFSCs) are an economically viable alternative to globalized agri-food circuits and have an ever increasingly important role in local supply networks. SFSCs are varied in nature and practice and effectively provide many economic, social, cultural, environmental and, last but not least, community benefits. The specific soil and weather characteristics of Iaşi county make for a wide range of agricultural and agri-food products-ranging from grains, industrial crops, fruit and vegetables to processed products. In the first quarter of 2017, according to the data provided by ANSVSA Iaşi, more than 3,400 units producing, processing and marketing animal and non-animal products were operating in Iaşi county, most of them located in Iaşi county area. A large part of production is sold on Iaşi market, through SFCSs, under various forms: producer shops, farm gate vendors, specialized shops (grocery stores, butchers`butchers`shops, meat deli shops, greengrocers' shops, etc.), on the agri-food markets, on-line stores, Facebook groups, as well as in supermarkets. The present case study aims at emphasizing the importance and reliability of the existing SFSCs in the agri-food sector of Iaşi county.

The agricultural holdings without legal status, largely overlapping the rural population's househ... more The agricultural holdings without legal status, largely overlapping the rural population's households and providing content to the individual households, namely the peasant households, preserve the continuity of the vernacular village in terms of the community land and in demographic terms, through the families living in the villages, whose main occupation remains agriculture. There are sensible differences between the holdings located in different county and regional areas, which reveals the distinctive typology of the agricultural holdings without legal status. The present study relies upon processed data from the last censuses, namely, the Population, Dwellings and Households Census in Romania (2011) and the General Agricultural Census (2010), with reference to the current differences within the average profiles of the holdings from the counties located in the NorthEast and SouthEast Development Regions, highlighting the similar profile of the holdings, even though they belong to rather different geographical areas, with specific particularities.
