Paralleling a tree growing from an acorn to a mighty oak, we see our main character (Mona) grow from a young girl to becoming a grown woman; with implications that she is also creating new life of her own. The life cycle of the oak tree gives us an insight into the physical, and more importantly, internal growth within our main character.
