The orphan girl Wiske (her name is Flemish diminutive of Louise) initially lives alone with her Aunt Sidonia. She meets the fellow orphan Suske (his name is a Flemish diminutive of François) who becomes her best friend and surrogate brother. The two kids have just entered puberty but they get involved in many strange adventures.
