Operations and Maintenance program
Our Operations and Maintenance program is targeted at recent school leavers looking for a long-term career in the LNG industry.
Papua New Guineans who have completed Year 12 Upper Secondary School studies in the previous five years are eligible to apply to the program.
Program participants are trained as operations and maintenance technicians to operate and maintain our facilities.
Successful applicants to the program spend 12 months completing oil and gas foundation skills and basic skills training at Kumul Petroleum Academy. Following the basic skills training, the trainees are assigned their career skill area – operations, mechanical, electrical or instrument and undertake a 12-month advanced skills training program.
Upon completion of the advanced skills training, trainees spend two rotations training with departments, including Safety, Security, Health and Environment (SHE), Medicine and Occupational Health (MOH), among other required general business units before they are assigned to our operating facilities – the Hides Gas Conditioning Plant or LNG Plant – to commence facility specific training in their area of specialisation.
Since the first intake in 2010, more than 220 Papua New Guineans have been recruited through our Operations and Maintenance program. Many of these trainees have progressed to various technician levels and continue to gain knowledge and experience to progress their careers in the LNG industry.
