  Swen Swenson (1836-1905) — of Nicollet County, Minn. Born in Hol, Hallingdal, Norway, November 29, 1836. Member of Minnesota state house of representatives District 17, 1887. Died in New Sweden, Nicollet County, Minn., March 4, 1905 (age 68 years, 95 days). Interment at Norseland Lutheran Cemetery, Lake Prairie Township, Nicollet County, Minn.
  Relatives: Brother of Lars Swenson; father of Lauritz Selmer Swenson, Carl Ludvig Swenson and Oscar Adolph Swenson.

  Lars Swenson (1842-1904) — of Hennepin County, Minn. Born in 1842. Member of Minnesota state senate 29th District, 1887-89. Died in 1904 (age about 62 years). Interment at Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minn.
  Relatives: Brother of Swen Swenson; father of Thea Pauline Swenson (who married Alfred John Pearson); uncle of Lauritz Selmer Swenson and Oscar Adolph Swenson.

  Lauritz Selmer Swenson (1865-1947) — also known as Lauritz S. Swenson — of Albert Lea, Freeborn County, Minn.; Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minn. Born in New Sweden, Nicollet County, Minn., June 12, 1865. Republican. School principal; delegate to Republican National Convention from Minnesota, 1896 (member, Committee on Permanent Organization), 1908 (alternate); U.S. Minister to Denmark, 1897-1905, resigned 1905; Switzerland, 1910-11; Norway, 1911-13, 1921-30; Netherlands, 1931-34. Lutheran. Died, of heart disease, in a hospital at Oslo, Norway, November 3, 1947 (age 82 years, 144 days). Interment at Norseland Lutheran Cemetery, Lake Prairie Township, Nicollet County, Minn.
  Relatives: Son of Swen Swenson; brother of Carl Ludvig Swenson and Oscar Adolph Swenson; nephew of Lars Swenson.

  Alfred John Pearson (1869-1939) — also known as Alfred J. Pearson — of Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa. Born in Landskrona, Sweden, September 29, 1869. Republican. University professor; U.S. Minister to Poland, 1924-25; Finland, 1925-30. Lutheran. Swedish ancestry. Member, Modern Language Association; American Association of University Professors; Phi Beta Kappa. Died August 9, 1939 (age 69 years, 314 days). Interment at Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minn.
  Relatives: Son of Hans Pearson and Johanna (Nilson) Pearson; married 1901 to Thea Pauline Swenson (daughter of Lars Swenson).

C. L. Swenson Carl Ludvig Swenson (1869-1941) — also known as C. L. Swenson — of Albert Lea, Freeborn County, Minn. Born in Nicollet County, Minn., December 14, 1869. Republican. Banker; member of Minnesota state senate 6th District, 1915-18; alternate delegate to Republican National Convention from Minnesota, 1916. Died in 1941 (age about 71 years). Interment somewhere in Albert Lea, Minn.

Oscar A. Swenson Oscar Adolph Swenson (1877-1951) — also known as Oscar A. Swenson — of Nicollet, Nicollet County, Minn. Born in Nicollet County, Minn., March 27, 1877. Republican. Farmer; secretary-manager of New Sweden Creamery Association; member of Minnesota state house of representatives, 1913-28 (District 20 1913-14, District 15 1915-28); Speaker of the Minnesota State House of Representatives, 1931; alternate delegate to Republican National Convention from Minnesota, 1928; member of Minnesota state senate 15th District, 1937-49. Died in 1951 (age about 74 years). Interment at Norseland Lutheran Cemetery, Lake Prairie Township, Nicollet County, Minn.
  Relatives: Son of Swen Swenson; brother of Lauritz Selmer Swenson and Carl Ludvig Swenson; nephew of Lars Swenson.

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 320,919 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of this site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, members of major federal commissions; and political appointee (pre-1969) postmasters of qualifying communities; (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions; (6) Americans who served as "honorary" consuls for other nations before 1950. Note: municipalities or communities "qualify", for Political Graveyard purposes, if they have at least half a million person-years of history, inclusive of predecessor, successor, and merged entities.
