The construction of high-rise building projects is inherently risky due
to the unique nature of t... more The construction of high-rise building projects is inherently risky due
to the unique nature of the activities and the complexity of the
working environment. Despite this, safety issues persist as critical
concerns in the construction sector. In this research, the primary
objective was to explore the nature of occupational risks associated
with high-rise building construction projects. The study employed a
comprehensive approach, utilizing field observation, questionnaire
surveys, and Key Informant Interviews (KII) to collect primary data.
SPSS was employed for data analysis, facilitating the identification
and assessment of risks in a study involving 75 respondents in highrise
building construction projects. This research reveals significant
insights, pinpointing major effects like falls, injuries, and lower back
pain. The risk assessment matrix identifies working at height as the
riskiest activity, emphasizing the need for intensified safety measures.
Activities such as noise, overloading circuits, and job dissatisfaction
also pose substantial risks. The study underscores the crucial role of
contractors and clients/developers in accident prevention. Addressing
specific risks and their associated effects contributes to cultivating a
safer and healthier working environment for construction workers,
thereby reducing the potential for accidents and promoting overall
well-being within the construction industry.

Time overruns are the most common issue in construction projects, which have a significant negati... more Time overruns are the most common issue in construction projects, which have a significant negative impact on the project and the parties involved. This also applies to National Competitive Bidding (NCB) construction projects in municipalities, jeopardizing project timelines, costs, and quality standards. Poor performance by professionals in rural municipalities has resulted in inadequate infrastructure development in these areas. The goal of this study is to understand the causes and effects of time overruns by employing an exploratory and descriptive research methodology. The data from clients, consultants, and contractors consistently highlights key factors contributing to project delays, including adverse weather conditions, limited involvement from contractor head offices, insufficient consultant experience, inadequate site management, and delays in site mobilization. These delays incur substantial costs related to materials, land acquisition, labor, and market risks. The results included that 52.17% the projects experienced time overruns ranging from 24.4% to 514.71%. Furthermore, 21.73% of projects experienced cost overruns, with the highest at 19.92%. These findings provide critical insights for improving project management and addressing construction time overruns. It recommends conducting national-scale analyses to gain a comprehensive understanding of construction delays and to implement effective mitigation strategies.

government service has direct link with the development of
nation. Todays, many government projects of Nepal are
facing problems of time and cost overrun which somehow can
relate with the engineers job satisfaction. This quantitative
study aimed to determine the level of job satisfaction among
the civil engineers working in irrigation sector under
government service in Nepal. Data were collected primarily
through structured questionnaire response from 210 civil
engineers working under Department of Water Resource and
Irrigation and adopted descriptive statistical analytical
techniques to analyze the variables using SPSS and MS-Excel.
Result of the study indicates that civil engineers working in
irrigation sector under government service of Nepal were
generally satisfied with their job and mostly they are
unsatisfied with the pay system and promotion opportunities.
Based on designation level, civil engineers working at Gazetted 2nd class level were more satisfied than other Gazetted 3rd class level and Non-Gazetted 1st class level. Study also reveals that males were more satisfied than females and based on job location, office based job engineers were more satisfied than site based job engineers.

The objective of the study was weather green home is needed or not with technology and services in Nepal, which is possible by promoting localprovincial and national level of government policy resulting to use locally available construction materials. It has also recommended the suggestions came from this research to related authorities for implementation. For verifying it substantial literatures reviewed had done as secondary data, the research gape between existed philosophy and proposed this research, data have been collected by adopting qualitative research methods as a primary data. In this research I claim, that green home demand is much more in Nepal and are being formulating the needed proper policy and guideline by concerned authorities. It is associated with Green materials used Passive solar design had Energy efficiency adopted by Waste management and well functionated by Water conservation. Some international Non-Government organization also contributing their experts and skills to the authorities to promote the green home. Some Metropolitan City and Municipalities are making guide lines and also it was found some municipalities have started to give some discount in taxes to the users and some guidelines are being formulation for green home through the green construction to achieve the green economy of Nepal.

In the entire project life cycle, better to break down in different
units or phases and the every risk factors in the projects must be
examine, identification probable risks. Thorough literatures have
been reviewed and quantities interview have been conducted and
divided into five categories. Risk factors analysis or assessment
in the construction projects is another step which helps to know
the severity or impact in the project. Based on the probable
severity, risks in housing construction projects have to take the
measurement which is known as risk ranking. Finally, Risks
Response Plan (RSP) must be made in the construction project.
Depending on the severity of the probable risks, it can be
categories based on its ranking. Lastly if risk is high simply reject
the project, if risk is low accept the project and if risk out of
capacity but can accept than let it to be transfer to other party. In
Nepal, particularly housing sector no one developer is bothering
about the risks factors.

Fifty farmers’ were randomly selected and interviewed using structured open-ended questionnaire for collecting the information. Similarly, field yield loss by red ant and white grub on Cardinal and Rosita variety was assessed from one meter square area of thirty fields of the survey site. Survey revealed red ant followed by white grub were the major pest of potato. The average percentage yield loss by the red ant and white grub was 17.3% and 10.5%, respectively. It was also found that, Rosita variety was better in terms of yield than Cardinal. The percentage yield loss on Cardinal and Rosita variety was 15.59% and 6.11% by red ant and 2.01% and 4.16% by white grub, respectively. Seven popular varieties of potato viz., Kufri Jyoti, Janakdev, Khumal Bikash, Desiree, Rosita, Ca... more Seven popular varieties of potato viz., Kufri Jyoti, Janakdev, Khumal Bikash, Desiree, Rosita, Cardinal and Khumal Upahar were evaluated for resistance to ants; and corresponding yield loss in each variety. The experiment was conducted in Randomized Complete Block Design with seven treatments and three replications under the natural infestation condition in ant prone field. The resistance level was assessed on the basis of Tuber Damage Index (TDI) ranging from 0.00 - 1.00. In this study, the TDI value of seven varieties ranged from 0.18 - 0.81; and based on their TDI values, Rosita (0.18) and Khumal Bikash (0.38) were categorized into least damaged (0.18 - 0.39), Desiree (0.42) and Cardinal (0.50) into moderately damaged (0.40 - 0.60) and Janakdev (0.66), Kufri Jyoti (0.72) and Khumal Upahar (0.81) into highly damaged (0.61 - 0.81). The highest yield loss by ants was found in Kufri Jyoti (6.37 t/ha) and the lowest in Rosita (1.41 t/ha). Variety Rosita was found promising against oriental army ant.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the safety and health performance of site workers on various road construction projects in Pokhara metropolitan city and to examine whether the performance indexes were close to the International Labor Organization’s code of practices. The information gathered from the respondents was examined using measure central tendency and prioritized by importance. The results of the questionnaire survey showed that Pokhara metropolitan city’s construction projects were not found to meet the ILO’s health and safety standards whereas few of the rules were effectively followed. Most employees have access to safe drinking and sanitary facilities, with some receiving extra perks. The survey found just seven distinct types of personal protective equipment (PPE), indicating that most workers overlook the use of PPE on the job. Consequently, in addition to quality and quantity, the monitoring office should put greater emphasis on construction site health and safety.
