Description
Absorbent underwear
The subject of the invention is absorbent underwear in the form of undergarments, whose aim is to absorb women's menstrual blood.
Solutions have been known of re-usable underwear, whose aim is to absorb women's menstrual blood.
The USA 2013006288 patent application discloses various embodiments of multi-layer liners for clothing. One of the embodiments discloses a liner with the first layer having an absorbing and draining function; the second antimicrobial layer; the third impermeable and breathable polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) layer; the fourth external layer of fabric, which protects the third layer and facilitates moisture diffusion and the fifth layer of external finishing fabric. The breathable layer of the said American application is made of PTFE.
Application WO2019036783 discloses multi-layered lining for clothing comprising: the first layer A of external finishing fabric, the fourth internal layer D of any material having appropriate properties for absorbing, hygiene, draining and such like which will contact the skin; the second layer B made of natural or synthetic fabric; and the third layer C made of breathable thermoplastic polyurethane.
According to the description, the finishing fabric of layer A is favourably selected from a group of fabrics including cotton, modal, bamboo, viscose, polyester, microfibre, nylon including combinations with elastane, lycra and spandex. The natural or
synthetic fabric comprising layer B ranges between 60 and 350 g / m2. In another variant of this solution the natural or synthetic fabric comprising layer B is selected from a group of fabrics including cotton, polyester, bamboo, viscose, , modal and nylon. The natural or synthetic fabric comprising layer B may be weaved, made of fabric, fleece, plush or have a microfiber structure. The second layer B is chemically treated with an antimicrobial agent, in particular with an agent containing silver ions, for instance Silpure. In the presented description, the breathable thermoplastic polyurethane layer C has the thickness of 0,015-0,020 mm and is applied without using any chemicals. An optional absorbent layer D2 may be added between layers „C” and „D1", with layer „D1" being the innermost layer. Layer „D1" may be knit or woven and may contain 51% of modal, viscose, bamboo, carbon or cotton with a weight of 90-300 g / m2.
The D2 layer may consist of at least 90% polyester or microfiber with coolplus fibre, 100-300 g / m2.
The description of US 10441480 discloses absorbent underwear which includes a body portion having an upper edge defining a waistband, two leg openings and a crotch region between the leg openings; an absorbent pad on the inside of the body portion within at least the crotch region, the absorbent pad having an inner region and a peripheral region; and elastic bonding film lining each of the two leg openings while overlying respective portions of the peripheral region of the absorbent pad thereby to bond the absorbent pad and the body portion.
The description of GB 256646 discloses absorbent re-usable underwear, comprising a front and back panel made of waterproof fabric, connected with each other and shaped in such a way as to form knickers with a gusset and an opening at each side of the said gusset to accommodate the user's legs while using the underwear, and moreover comprising an absorbent pad, sewn or otherwise permanently attached to the inner surface of the gusset and having a layer of permeable fabric and a layer of absorbent fabric placed between the said permeable fabric and the said waterproof fabric.
In another variant of this solution the waterproof fabric forming the front and back panels and the gusset is thermoplastic laminated polyurethane (TPU).
In another variant of this solution the layer of permeable fabric comprises synthetic fabric which is a fabric made of microfiber. In a variant of this solution the absorbent synthetic fabric consists of towel-type fabric, which is terrycloth.
Absorbent underwear according to this solution is able to absorb up to 3 mililitres (ml) of liquid.
A significant technical problem for manufacturing absorbent underwear is achieving the desired effect of absorbing menstrual blood while ensuring comfort of use, which means giving the pad in the underwear a shape which will make it as comfortable as possible to wear while preserving the feeling of "dryness" of the underwear.
Absorbent underwear according to the invention in the form of knickers having a triple-layered moisture absorbing pad between the openings for the legs in the crotch, is characteristic in that the inner layer of the moisture absorbing pad from the side contacting the body is made of at least 60% polyester, the middle layer of the pad is made of cotton and the outer layer is made of polyester laminated with polyurethane or laminated cotton knitwear and the layers of the pad are sewn together with the seams being covered with polyacrylic resin.
Favourably, the middle layer of the pad made of cotton contains modified polyester resin additives improving its hydrophilic properties.
Favourably, the inner and middle layers in the crotch have stitchings.
The moisture absorbing pad has a shape that fills the crotch area and extends to the front and back parts of the knickers to form semi-circular ends.
The applied solution makes it possible to obtain a highly hydrophilic pad additionally reinforced with stitching in the crotch area between the inner and middle layers, which improves transport of moisture to the inner layer, whose aim is to accumulate moisture. A significant element is also the shape of the pad itself, which is rounded on the parts extending to the front and back from the crotch area. Such rounding of the shape makes the pad stretch evenly once in place and once the menstrual blood is absorbed, the moisture spreads evenly, which significantly improves the comfort of wearing it.
Additionally, silver ions may be applied to the underwear as well as other elements improving hygiene of use.
One embodiment of the underwear is presented in the drawings, where Fig 1 and Fig 2 present the way the pad is placed in the underwear.
Absorbent underwear according to the invention in the form of knickers having a triple-layered moisture absorbing pad between the openings for the legs in the crotch, with the inner layer of the moisture absorbing pad (1) from the side contacting the body is made of at least 60% polyester improving transport of the moisture to the inner layer. The middle layer of the pad is made of cotton and the outer layer is made of polyester laminated with polyurethane or laminated cotton knitwear, which improves breathability of the underwear in the pad area while ensuring its impermeability for moisture.
The layers of the pad are sewn together and the seams are covered with polyacrylic resin. The resin applied to the seams improves waterproof properties of the pad. The moisture absorbing pad (1) has a shape that fills the crotch area and extends to the front and back parts of the knickers to form semi-circles 2 and 3. Such rounding of the shape makes the pad stretch evenly once in place and once the menstrual blood is absorbed, the moisture spreads evenly, which significantly improves the comfort of wearing it.
The middle layer of the pad made of cotton may contain modified polyester resin additives improving its hydrophilic properties.
The inner and middle layers in the crotch have stitchings that improve transport of moisture to the middle layer.
The above embodiment does not exhaust all the possibilities of application of the invention.
