Description
CUTTING DISC FOR SOIL-WORKING OPERATING AGRICULTURAL MACHINE.
Applicant: AMA S.p.A.
Designated inventor: Sergio Scaglia. The present invention relates to a cutting disc for an operating agricultural machine. The invention is advantageously applied in a soil-working agricultural machine, particularly a machine with one or more rotating cutting discs to run furrows in the soil, which the following description will make explicit reference to without losing its general nature.
The use of machinery equipped with one or more series of toothed, cutting-edge rotating discs, suitable to prepare soil for planting by running multiple furrows, excavations, slits or the like in order to distribute seeds or the equivalent, is widespread in the field of soil working.
Currently, it frequently happens that soil residues impact the toothed profiles of the mentioned discs, with the result that some portions of such residues subsequently settle very often on the bottom of newly-created furrows, therefore blocking the furrows themselves so that they are no longer in optimal conditions and substantially unsuitable for the subsequent seeding operations.
The object of the present invention is therefore to realize a disc for an operating agricultural machine, allowing to eliminate the above-mentioned drawback.
The structural and functional characteristics of the present invention and its advantages over the known art will be clearer and more evident from the claims below, and in particular from an examination of the description that follows, referring to the attached drawings, which show the schematic representations of a preferred but non-limiting embodiment of an agricultural machine cutting disc, in which:
Figure 1 is a side view of a disc for an agricultural machine according to the present invention;
Figure 2 is a front view of the disc shown in Figure 1 ; and
Figure 3 is the perspective view of the disc shown in Figure 1.
With reference to the attached figures, D globally indicates a cutting disc suitable to be used on an operating agricultural machine (known per se and therefore not illustrated), particularly an operating machine to run S furrows or the like in a soil to be sown (Figure 3).
As shown in Figures 2 and 3, disc D has a spherical cap configuration, with a defined concavity C, as well as a central hole F for the insertion and the connection to a rotating shaft (also not shown) with an inclined axis, belonging to the operating agricultural machine.
The outer peripheral surface P of the spherical cap disc D is provided with an A plurality of substantially U-shaped Yi recesses, extending substantially tangent to surface P so as to define a corresponding B plurality of soil-cutting teeth Zi (Figure 1 shows sixteen Zi teeth), uniformly distributed and spaced apart on surface P itself. As shown more clearly in the attached Figures 1 , 2 and 3, each tooth Zi, defined by and between two adjacent recesses, also extends substantially tangent to surface P (or in any case not radially with respect to the central hole F) and is equipped with a defined geometry cutting profile Ki, obtained by means of a milling operation with a cutting angle a having a set inclination equal to 20°.
In this way, the disc D with the so-conformed milled cutting teeth can penetrate the soil without the occurrence of so-called hard tilled layer on the bottom of furrow S, which presents a section that is created at the passage of disc D, characterized by a particular, defined "V" shape, perpendicular to soil T and with a 90° angle.
Preferably, but without limitation thereto, the spherical-cap disc D with milled teeth Zi has the following construction features:
Mass: 9 to 18 kg
Diameter: 560 to 710 mm
Thickness: 5 - 6 mm
Curvature radius: 1000 mm
Material : 30MnB5. running therefore an optimal furrow S in soil T for sowing operations, even in the case of high hardness soils, about 60 mm deep and about 90 mm wide (Figure 3). The special geometry of milled-profile teeth Zi conveniently provides the following advantages:
- It favours the rolling motion of disc D: this occurs thanks to the position of the disc's rolling centre with respect to the point of contact between the tooth and the ground, so that torque is always favourable to the motion. Consequently, the required drive force needed by the agricultural machine to run the furrows is significantly reduced, as well as consumption.
- It provides complete draining of soil residues while teeth Zi cut the soil. Such residues are in fact raised and projected far away from and to the outside of the new furrows S, in particular in the opposite direction with respect to the advancement of the agricultural machine supporting disc D itself.
It must be finally highlighted that it is possible to realize furrows in the ground using even one single disc D as described above.
