Description

REFRIGERATED SALES FURNITURE AND ARRANGEMENT OF AT LEASTTWO SUCH REFRIGERATED SALES FURNITURES
Conventional refrigerated sales furnitures often comprise vertical stanchions for supporting goods display desks. The vertical stanchions stand on a sheet of the refrigerated sales furniture, and gaps between horizontally adjacent sheets are sealed by means of a sealing compound.
Such sealing compounds do sometimes not completely seal the whole length of the gaps and thus humidity can enter below the sheet. Such sealing compounds are sometimes not compatible to foods. Furthermore the edges between the sheet and the vertical stanchions and the sealings between adjacent upper sheets are difficult to clean. Moreover, such a construction requires a considerable height within the refrigerated sales furniture.
Accordingly, it would be beneficial to provide a tight, easy-to-clean, and space- saving refrigerated sales furniture.
Exemplary embodiments of the invention include a refrigerated sales furniture comprising a base portion and a top portion, a rear wall and two upright stanchions extending between the base portion and the top portion at the left side and at the right side of the refrigerated sales furniture, the stanchions supporting at least one goods display deck, wherein the base portion comprises a bottom sheet, two lateral beams supported by the bottom sheet and fixed to the respective upright stanchion, and an upper sheet forming the upper surface of the base portion, wherein the lateral beams are arranged between the bottom sheet and the upper sheet, and wherein the space between the bottom sheet and the upper sheet is filled with an insulating plasties foam.
Exemplary embodiments of the invention further include an arrangement of at least two refrigerated sales furnitures, as described above, said at least two refrigerated sales furnitures being disposed side by side such that adjacent upper sheets abut against each other.
Embodiments of the invention are described in greater detail below with reference to the Figures, wherein:

Fig. 8 shows a sectional view of the base portion of the first refrigerated sales furniture in a further alternative embodiment, taken along the line A-A in Fig. 2.
It is stressed that a refrigerated sales furniture according to the invention can ei- ther have sliding or pivotable doors in its front or it can have an open goods access portion in its front. Fig. 1 shows a perspective side view of a first refrigerated sales furniture 2 according to an embodiment of the invention.
The first refrigerated sales furniture 2 comprises a base portion and a ceiling/top portion 4 as well as a rear wall 6 and two upright deck support stanchions 16 extending between the base portion and the top portion 4 at the left side and at the right side of the first refrigerated sales furniture 2. The upright deck support stanchions 16 comprise a number of holes into which goods display decks can be hooked for fixing them in relation to the upright deck support stanchions 16. Each upright deck support stanchion 16 has an upper lateral beam 18 welded to its upper side and a lower lateral beam 20 welded to its lower side both lateral beams 18 and 20 extending horizontally to the front side of the base portion and the top portion 4, respectively.
The underside of the base portion is formed by a bottom plate, at the side edges of which a respective sealing strip 36 is arranged. The two lateral beams 20 rest on the respective side portion of the bottom plate. An upright front strip 10 is arranged at the front side of the bottom plate. Below the bottom plate, four stands 14 are disposed, two of which are visible in Fig. 1.
An upper sheet 26 forms the upper surface of the base portion, its left and right side edges rest on the upper surfaces of the lower lateral beams 20 or along insulating material on the upper surfaces of the lower lateral beams 20, its front edge abuts against the front strip 10, its rear edge abuts against the rear wall 6 of the first refrigerated sales furniture 2, and its rear corner portions abut against the goods display deck support stanchion 16.
The upper sheet 26 comprises a drain pan 28 for accommodating an evaporator of a vapor compression cycle (not shown in Fig. 1). In a central portion of the drain pan 28, there is a drain opening 30 for draining condensed water. In the surface of the drain pan 28 there are arranged several run-off gutters 32 leading to the drain opening 30 and draining condensed water thereto. In particular, the run-off gutters 32 are inclined towards the drain opening 30. Located centrally in side portions of the drain pan 28 there are formed two refrigerant conduits openings 31 through which refrigerant conduits extend to the evaporator accommodated in the drain pan 28 (not shown in Fig. 1). The lateral side portions and a central front portion of the upper sheet 26 form respective ledges for supporting the lowest goods display deck (not shown in Fig. 1).
Recapitulating, the base portion of the first refrigerated sales furniture 2 comprises the bottom plate, the two lateral beams 20, the upper sheet 26, and the insulating plastics foam (not shown in Fig. 1) filling the space between the bottom plate and the upper sheet 26.
Fig. 2 shows a side view of the base portion of the first refrigerated sales furniture 2.
The side view depicted in Fig. 2 is a view of the lower third of the first refrigerated sales furniture 2 from the right hand side which is directed upwardly in Fig. 1. The side view of Fig. 2 comprises from back to front the lower third of the rear wall 6 and the right goods display deck support stanchion 16, the base portion comprising the sealing strip 36 arranged at the side edge of the bottom sheet, the right lateral stanchion 20 and the right side edge of the upper sheet 26 and the front strip 10 forming the front end of the base portion, as well as two vertical stands 14 dis- posed below the bottom sheet 8. The two vertical stands 14 are the right ones that are covered by the base portion of the first refrigerated sale furniture 2 in Fig. 1 and they are therefore not visible in Fig. 1.
At the front edge of the right goods display deck support stanchion 16 there are ar- ranged hook-in holes, into which goods display decks (not shown) can be hooked for fixing them thereto. A cross section A-A is taken vertically through the base 007/006779
6/20
portion approximately in the middle of the front to back-dimension. A further cross section B-B is taken vertically through the front stand 14 and the base portion above this front stand 14.
Fig. 3 shows a sectional view of the base portion of the first refrigerated sales furniture 2 taken along the line A-A.
In this sectional view, the side edge of the bottom plate 8 extends upwardly. The sealing strip 36 covers the side edge of the bottom plate 8. The sealing strip 36 comprises a left foot part standing on the surface of the bottom plate 8 adjacent to the upwardly extending side edge and a sealing lip being disposed on the right hand side of the side edge of the bottom plate 8, wherein the foot part and the sealing lip are held together by a top part. Between the foot part and the sealing lip a gap is formed, into which the side edge of the bottom plate 8 extends. In the resting position the sealing lip is slanted to the right hand side and includes an angle of approximately 15° with respect to a vertical plane.
Above the sealing strip 36 there is disposed the right lower vertical beam 20 that comprises a vertical beam portion 22 and two anchoring portions 24 extending in a wavelike progression to the left from the lower and the upper end of the vertical beam portion 22. The side portion of the upper sheet 26 rests on the upper anchoring portion 24 or on an insulating material disposed on the upper anchoring portion 24. The upper sheet 26 has an downwardly directed edge portion encompassing the upper edge of the vertical beam portion 22, a horizontal right side portion and a drain pan 28 comprising an oblique transition portion and a horizontal bottom. The vertical beam portion 22 extends between the top part of the sealing strip 36 and the ledge level of the right edge portion of the upper sheet 26. The upper anchoring portion 24 and the lower anchoring portion 24 have a square wave pro- gression from right to left with rounded transitions. The upper anchoring portion 24 extends from right to left from the upper end of the vertical beam portion 22 comprising a first peak, an adjacent trough, a second peak at the same height as the first peak and a free end at a height level slightly below the height level of the trough. The lower anchoring portion 24 runs from right to left from the lower end of the vertical beam portion 22 comprising a first trough, a first peak, a second trough, and a free end the height level of which lies slightly above the height level of the peak. The left side of the foot part of the sealing strip 36 is aligned with the vertical edge of the lower anchoring portion 24 between its first trough and its peak. The progression of the two anchoring portions 24 is mirrored along the hori- zontal centerline of the vertical beam portion 22. The height level of the bottom of the drain pan 28 is situated approximately in the middle of the two anchoring portions 24.
The space between the upper sheet 26 and the bottom plate 8 is filled with an in- sulating plastics foam 34, this insulating plastics foam 34 providing a good insulation and an improved stability of the base portion of the first refrigerated sales furniture 2 as well as a good anchoring and a safe position for the goods display deck support stanchion 16. Moreover, improved heat dissipation is attained through the enlarged surface of the square wave-formed anchoring portions 24.
The stand 14 is adjustable in height and disposed under the bottom plate 8 at a right hand side thereof.
Fig. 4 shows a sectional view of the base portion of the first refrigerated sales fur- niture 2 taken along the line B-B. In the cross sectional view of Fig. 4 the position and configuration of the upper sheet 26, the right lower lateral beam 20, the right goods display deck support stanchion 16, and the sealing strip 36 are identical to those in Fig. 3.
Into the bottom plate 8 there is formed a bottom plate aperture 15 into which the stand 14 extends and onto which a support member 38 is positioned. The support member 38 is fixed to the stand 14 e.g. by means of one or more screws (not shown) and its right edge abuts to the left side of the foot part of the sealing strip 36 and to the vertical edge between the first trough and the peak of the lower an- choring portion 24. The support member 38 has, from right to left, a right protrusion the dimensions of which correspond to the inner dimensions of the first peak of the lower anchoring portion 24, and a laterally adjacent recess the dimensions of which substantially correspond to the outer dimensions of the second trough of the lower anchoring portion 24, and a second protrusion adjacent to the recess the upper surface of which second protrusion corresponds to the height level of the free end of the lower anchoring portion 24. The remaining portion of the support member 38 is slanted downwardly to the left hand side. The width of the support member 38 is wider than the bottom plate aperture 15 in order to enable a safe position for the support member 38.
As can be seen in Fig. 4, the insulating plastics foam 34 fills the space between the upper sheet 26, the bottom plate 8, and the support member 38, and this space is limited in the forward direction by the front strip 10, in the backward direction by the rear wall 6, and in the lateral directions by the vertical beam portions 22 of the lower lateral beams and by the sealing strips 36.
By the bottom portion of the first refrigerated sales furniture 2 depicted in Figures 1 to 4, a safe position and a reliable anchoring for the lower lateral beams 20 and consequently the goods display deck support stanchions 16 welded thereto can be attained. The upper sheet 26 which is a plastics moulding part or a deep-drawn metal part prevents sharp edges and transitions and inaccessible regions, and it can thus be cleaned very comfortably and easily. Furthermore, the upper sheet 26 covers the whole upper surface of the base portion and avoids gaps at the side edges, between the upper sheet 26 and the goods display deck support stanchions 16, the front strip 10 and the rear wall 6. Consequently, no sealing com- pound is required within the sales space above the upper sheet 26.
By positioning the lower lateral beams 20 in the space between the bottom sheet 8 and the upper sheet 26, the overall height of the base portion is significantly reduced and the available sales space can be increased.
In the space between the bottom plate 8 and the upper sheet 26, refrigerant conduits and/or electrical connections can be arranged. Furthermore, in the rear wall 6 and/or in the lower lateral beams 20, passages for such conduits and connections can be formed.
By providing insulating plastics foam 34 around the lower lateral beams 20 and using a deep-drawn metal part or plastics molding part upper sheet 26 no sealing problems occur.
Fig. 5 shows a perspective view of an arrangement 40 of two refrigerated sales furnitures 2, 42 according to an embodiment of the invention.
The first refrigerated sales furniture 2 and a second refrigerated sales furniture 42 are disposed side by side such that their laterally adjacent upper sheets 26, in par- ticular their downwardly extending side edges and their sealing strips 36, in particular their sealing lips, abut against each other. Therefore there is a continuous transition between the laterally adjacent refrigerated sales furnitures 2, 42 and no delimitation amongst them. The second refrigerated sales furniture 42 has a side wall 44 at its right side edge. Likewise the first refrigerated sales furniture 2 or a further refrigerated sales furniture disposed to the left of the first refrigerated sales furniture 2 can also have a left side wall.
In Fig. 5 a sectional cut is indicated by a line C-C extending from left to right through the transition between the base portions of the first refrigerated sales furniture 2 and the second refrigerated sales furniture 42.
Fig. 6 shows a sectional view of the base portions of the arrangement 40 of the two refrigerated sales furnitures 2, 42 taken along the line C-C.
According to Fig. 6, the right goods display deck support stanchion 16 of the first refrigerated sales furniture 2 and the left goods display deck support stanchion 16 of the second refrigerated sales furniture 42 as well as the downwardly bent right side edges of their upper sheets 26 abut against each other. Furthermore the right side of the sealing lip of the right sealing strip 36 of the first refrigerated sales furniture 2 and the left side of the sealing lip of the left sealing strip 36 of the second refrigerated sales furniture 42 are pressed against each other such that they abut against each other over their entire length and that they take a vertical position.
With this arrangement of the two refrigerated sales furnitures 2 and 42 a continuous transition between laterally adjacent refrigerated sales furnitures having excellent sealing properties and a base portion with a low profile can be attained.
Fig. 7 shows a sectional view of the base portion of the first refrigerated sales furniture 2 in an alternative embodiment, taken along the line A-A in Fig. 2.
Fig. 8 shows a sectional view of the base portion of the first refrigerated sales furniture 2 in a further alternative embodiment, taken along the line A-A in Fig. 2. In the for ease of illustration, the stands 14, the goods display deck support stanchions 16, the drain pan 28 and the sealing strip 36 are not shown in Figs. 7 and 8, although they are present.
In Fig. 7 a lower lateral beam 46 is provided instead of the lower lateral beam 20, said lower lateral beam 46 comprising a vertical beam portion 48, two laterally extending anchoring portions 50 and two anchoring roots 52. The two laterally extending anchoring portions 50 are generally straight and extend from the upper and lower end of the vertical beam portion 48 into the space between the bottom sheet 8 and the upper sheet 26. The two anchoring roots 52 are attached to the inner parts of the laterally extending anchoring portions 50. In the exemplary embodiment of Fig. 7 the two anchoring roots 52 comprise, respectively, three upper and three lower branches that are inclined at an angle of 45°. By this configuration of the laterally extending anchoring portions 50 having such anchoring roots 52 both a firm embedding of the lower lateral beam 46 within the insulating plastics foam 34 and, through the enlarged surface, improved heat dissipation are attained.
In Fig. 8 a lower lateral beam 54 is provided, which comprises in accordance with the lower lateral beam 20 a vertical beam portion 56 and two wave-formed anchoring portions 58. However, the two anchoring portions 58 have a wave-formed, sinusoidal instead of a square wave progression.
As with the square wave-formed anchoring portions 24 of the lower lateral beam 20, the wave-formed, sinusoidal progression of the two anchoring portions 58 provides for a good anchoring and a safe position of the lower lateral beam 54 and thus for the goods display deck support stanchion 16. Moreover, improved heat dissipation is attained through the enlarged surface of the wave-formed anchoring portions 58. By providing holes in the surface of the square wave-formed anchoring portions 24, the laterally extending anchoring portions 50 and the corresponding anchoring roots 52, and the wave-formed anchoring portions 58, a more uniform distribution of the insulating plastics foam 34 and thus an improved embedding of the lower lateral beam 20, 46, 54 can be attained, and cavities, bubbles and cold bridges resulting therefrom can be avoided.
The exemplary embodiments of the invention, as described above, allow for a reduced height of the base portion of a refrigerated sales furniture and thus for a larger space to be available for the goods to be presented and to be sold. By the provision of an upper sheet that forms the whole upper surface of the base portion between the front side and the rear wall, the left side including the left stanchion and the right side including the right stanchion and by providing insulating plastics foam below the upper sheet and around the lateral beams, sealing problems can reliably be avoided. The upper sheet can be manufactured as a plastics molding part or a deep-drawn metal part having soft contours and avoiding sharp edges and difficult-to-access regions and therefore such an upper sheet can be cleaned easily. Further, such an upper sheet is convenient and accurate to manufacture. By such an upper sheet, a continuous transition to laterally adjacent refrigerated sales furnitures can be enabled and a delimitation among items of furniture can reliably be avoided.
The lateral beams do not have to extend all the way to the front of the base portion of the refrigerated sales furniture. It suffices if they only extend substantially hori- zontally partly to the front of the base portion. The two lateral beams can be fixed to the respective upright stanchion by welding, by screws, or they can be integrally formed, e.g. as a cast part.
The upper sheet can be pan-formed in order to accommodate an evaporator thereon. The lowest goods display deck can be positioned on such a pan-formed upper sheet comprising an evaporator accommodated therein. With such a pan- formed upper sheet, a space-saving accommodation of the evaporator of the vapor compression cycle directly adjacent to the refrigerated sales space can be effected.
In order to drain condensed water to the outside, the upper sheet can comprise a drain opening which can be in particular located in a middle portion of the upper sheet, and at least one run-off gutter leading to the drain opening. In particular, the run-off gutter can be inclined downwardly to the drain opening for an effective removal of condensed water.
When the upper sheet rests with its lateral side portions on the lateral beams or on an insulating material on the upper surface of the lateral beams, a compact and stable configuration is attained. Instead of positioning the lateral beams on top of the upper sheet as is the case in state-of-the-art refrigerated sales furnitures, the lateral beams can be positioned above the bottom sheet and can support the lateral side portions of the upper sheet.
When the lateral beams have the profile of a C or a mirrored C being at least partly enveloped by the insulating plastics foam, the lateral beams and the goods dis- play deck support stanchions fixed thereto are held in a particular safe position.
When the lateral beams have at least one substantially laterally extending anchoring portion that extends partly to the center of the space between the bottom sheet and the upper sheet or when the substantially laterally extending anchoring portion is wave-formed, the safe anchoring and positioning of the lateral beams and the goods display deck support stanchions fixed thereto are further improved. Furthermore, by the enlarged surface of the wave-formed anchoring portion the amount of heat that can be dissipated is enlarged. When the substantially laterally extending anchoring portion comprises anchoring roots forming an enlarged surface, the safe anchoring and positioning of the lateral beams and the heat dissipation can be enhanced even further.
When the substantially laterally extending anchoring portion comprises holes allowing an enhanced embedding thereof within the insulating plastics foam. When the insulating plastics foam is filled into the space between the bottom sheet and the upper sheet it can flow around the substantially laterally extending anchoring portion and through the holes formed therein such that cavities and bubbles and cold bridges resulting therefrom can be avoided.
When the substantially laterally extending anchoring portion comprises carbon fibers or glass-fiber reinforced plastic, a reliable statics with reduced weight can be attained and such material has good heat dissipation properties at the same time.
By the provision of support members on the bottom sheet for supporting the lateral beams, the stability and safe positioning can be improved even further. By the provision of such support members the height of the lateral beams can be reduced, and in the space below the lateral beams and between the support members, electrical connectors and refrigerant conduits can run, avoiding the requirement of holes in the lateral beams for such connections and conduits.
When an upper profile is provided in a support member and a corresponding lower profile is provided in a respective lateral beam into which the upper profile of the support member can engage, a particular safe positioning and anchoring of the lateral beams and the goods display deck support stanchions thereto can be attained. The lower profile of the lateral beam can in particular be formed in its upper substantially laterally extending anchoring portion.
When the support members are disposed above stands of the refrigerated sales furniture, upper support members can reliably be fixed to such stand, therefore providing a particular compact configuration. For this purpose, the bottom sheet can have an opening into which the top of the stands or the bottom of the support members extend.
When the base portion further comprises at least one sealing strip at a side edge of the bottom sheet, the sealing properties can further be enhanced and humidity and condensed water can be prevented from intruding into the space between the upper sheet and the bottom sheet as well as into the refrigerated sales space.
The insulating plastics foam can be any kind of foam that has a sufficient strength when cured and that is food-compatible. A preferable insulating plastics foam is a Pentan foam.
The refrigerated sales furniture can also comprise lateral side walls enclosing the refrigerated sales space.
Exemplary embodiments of the invention, as described above, allow for an arrangement of two or more refrigerated sales furnitures side by side such that at least one of the adjacent lateral upper sheets, the adjacent lateral beams or the adjacent lateral sealing strips abut against each other. Thereby a continuous transition between two or more refrigerated sales furnitures is attained, wherein the above-described advantages can be maintained for each individual refrigerated sales furniture of such an arrangement.
The outermost refrigerated sales shelves of such an arrangement can comprise side walls defining the side edges of the refrigerated sales space. As with the refrigerated sales furniture according to the invention as described above, such an arrangement of at least two refrigerated sales furnitures can comprise slideable or pivotable front doors or it can have an open goods access portion. While the invention has been described with reference to exemplary embodiments, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various changes may be made and equivalents may be substituted for elements thereof without departing from the scope of the invention. In addition, many modifications may be made to adapt the particular situation or material to the teachings of the invention without departing from the essential scope thereof. Therefore it is intended that the invention not be limited to the particular embodiments disclosed, but that the invention will include all embodiments falling within the scope of the appended claims.
